While Battlefield 2042 came out only last year, it feels longer since the game has generated so much discussion over its many flaws and failures since it launched, and its publisher, EA, has admitted the game didn't meet expectations. However, this year another Battlefield will be arriving, and it's causing a bit of a stir among fans, especially as some aspects of it appear to be superior to 2042. But the upcoming title isn't for console or PC, but is instead a mobile game.
Battlefield Mobile is currently in pre-alpha and available to play on Android in chosen countries. Developed by Industrial Toys, BF Mobile has been impressing as from the looks of gameplay footage it appears the mobile title features more destructible environments than its triple-A cousin (via MP1ST).
While Dice is aware of the failings of BF 2042, with the dev reportedly considering it to be a "miss", many players are still making unflattering comparisons with both previous Battlefields, and now to an upcoming mobile version of the series.
The video showing off BF Mobile's destruction shows a version of the Grand Bazaar map from Battlefield 3, and the player launching rockets at a building which proceeds to break part, with balconies falling, wall damage, and windows smashed. It certainly seems to be more along the lines of the classic destruction seen in previous BF games. The mobile title also looks like it'll feature Noshar Canals, which is another fan favourite map from BF3.
Battlefield Mobile is open to pre-registration for its next round of play testing. The game is described as a showcase for features the BF games are famous for: "Outrun a collapsing tower on your ATV, parachute off a building while firing a rocket launcher, or bury your enemies under the rubble of a building you destroyed with your tank", the game's Google Play listing reads.
Meanwhile, it's been claimed that the next triple-A version of Battlefield may revert a lot of the changes that were made in 2042 and ditch widely criticised aspects such as the 128-player battles and specialists.
