Bayonetta 3 recently received its first major update. As one would expect, it contains the usual laundry list of bug fixes, but it also contains a few quality-of-life improvements. Viola’s Witch Time has been drastically improved by making it easier to activate, last longer, and there’s a new animation that notifies the player when Viola’s Witch Time is on. It’s also easier to obtain Golem Treasure Chests as the time limit has been increased and the requirements to complete Niflheim stages have been lowered to decrease their overall difficulty.

Another thing that’s been made vastly easier in accessing Bayonetta 3’s secret chapter. That’s the one where the player suddenly finds themselves in a fairy tale world as a very young Bayonetta, better known then as Cereza. Normally, accessing the secret chapter requires players to first purchase the Old Picture Book from Rodin’s shop and then find three secret keys that are in three different chapters. The keys only appear after buying the Old Book, and only after collecting all three does the book open to reveal the secret chapter.

However, as of update 1.2, there’s no need to find those three "Tricolored Keys" anymore. As soon as you gain access to The Gates Of Hell, you’ll be able to access the secret chapter by simply purchasing the Old Picture Book. The three keys will be given automatically on the chapter select screen. If you’ve already obtained some of the keys, all remaining keys will be handed over on the chapter select screen.

In case you haven’t played it, it’s basically a brief teaser that introduces the upcoming adventure game, Bayonetta Origins: Cereaza and the Lost Demon. That game was revealed at The Game Awards last December as a prequel to the Bayonetta trilogy. You'll play Cereza as she goes from a young student of magic to a powerful Umbra Witch by journeying through an enchanted forest to rescue her mother.

Bayonetta Origins arrives on March 17, so that’s plenty of time to check out this teaser.
