Bayonetta 3 director Hideki Kamiya has had his Twitter account restricted, presumably for blocking too many users. This comes as Kamiya is criticized for allegedly offering Bayonetta voice actress Hellena Taylor just $4,000 to reprise the role in the next game, replacing her with Jennifer Hale when she refused.

Following this, Kamiya strongly refuted the allegations and seemed to block anyone who mentioned them in the replies. However, he is now temporarily unable to tweet, as Twitter has locked him out of his account for "unusual activity".

The controversy began when Hellena Taylor, who voiced Bayonetta in the first two games, shared a series of videos in which she revealed why she would not be returning in Bayonetta 3. She accused Kamiya of offering her a flat rate of $4,000 to voice the protagonist, far below union rates for a job that would likely require multiple recording sessions.

Kamiya was quick to respond, as well as block anyone who brought up the allegations in his replies. He tweeted: "Sad and deplorable about the attitude of untruth. That's what all I can tell now. By the way, BEWARE OF MY RULES". His rules refer to his pinned tweet, which lists reasons Kamiya will block users. These include shitposting in his replies, and asking questions that have already been answered in the past.

His Twitter account was restricted several tweets after this, giving him time to make a long series of follow-up tweets. These were more ominous, saying things such as "I warned you...", and "Better don't tweet me right now...I'll block you one by one..."

The restrictions are only temporary, put in place when Twitter suspects that an account may have been hacked. It's therefore likely that he was locked out of his account for blocking too many fans, or even for tweeting too much on the subject.

Bayonetta 3 developer PlatinumGames is yet to issue a formal statement on the allegations. Nintendo also hasn't commented on the matter, and it's unclear how much involvement it had in the matter.
