Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a few days away from superhero-landing onto PS5. Between a sneak peek at the trophy list and the reveal of confirmed suits, we couldn’t be any more invested. To get the adrenaline even fired up, Sony and Insomniac Games released a new and exhilarating TV commercial titled “Be Yourself”.

The 30-second promotional video features Morales in a tight spot battling the Tinkerer in a wintry backstreet. Set to the trailer music "I’m Ready" by Jaden, Morales regains his courage by tuning into the music coming from his headphones. The commercial is a feast for the eyes, flaunting high definition in a pool of color. The Tinkerer - and his team of Underground thugs - look particularly impressive with their armor’s purple charge. Morales also showcases his suit’s invisibility mechanic, venom blast, and ground-shattering web-slinging moves.

Dubbed as “Be Yourself”, the commercial encourages fans and future players to hone their own unique style of gameplay. Morales has a laid-back and juvenile approach to crime-fighting, whereas Peter Parker is more grounded through his experience. Parker also knows the grief of loss all too well, something that Morales is only coming to terms with after the death of his father. Sony’s spin-off title will showcase Morales’ coming-of-age story alongside his superhero alter-ego, following the protagonist as he becomes his own kind of friendly, neighborhood Spider-Man.

The trailer features no gameplay footage from the upcoming PS5 title, and a small disclaimer had to be made regarding Morales’ headphones; which are not available in-game. Eagle-eyed onlooker Glenn.Mp4 on YouTube spotted a small detail in the commercial that highlights Morales as the new hero. As Morales regains his strength, building artwork of Peter Parker’s Spider-Man can be seen illuminated behind him, only for the lights to cut out when it’s Morales’ time to shine.

Our review of Spider-Man: Miles Morales pegs it as a “wonderful launch title that everyone should play.” While the game’s controls work the same way as its predecessor, swinging through New York City as Morales shows the protégé’s inexperience, and it's these little details that separate this experience from the original game . Early previews of the game have also brought spoilers, with Insomniac Games already warning fans about those privileged players with a penchant for sharing too much.
