There are not a massive number of PlayStation 4 owners who also possess the PSVR, but for those who do, one of the most popular titles for the VR system is a rhythm game called Beat Saber. This is just as well since it is one of the better games for PSVR, which happens to be one of the more successful gaming VR systems in existence.

Beat Saber sees a bunch of shapes coming towards you with pulsing music playing in the background. The objective? To swipe and cut at those shapes with lightsabers (yes, they look like lightsabers). Donning the white PSVR goggles and using the special controllers will allow you to play this fast-paced and fun VR game.

Now, there is a multiplayer mode. Finally! And just in time for the festive season. Beat Games have announced the new mode that will allow players to challenge their friends or random opponents from around the world.

Beat Saber players will be able to compete together in private or in public matches involving up to five people. In addition there is a lobby and "arena-like environment" - according to the developers - which may put players in mind that they're stepping into some galactic competition involving sabers, music, and virtual shapes coming at you in increasing speed.

There is the possibility of spectating too - "you can just sit back and watch the competition heat up as an inactive player watching the stadium from above," reads the PS Blog, for the game. Those who do compete in the multiplayer can receive badges that state who was the most precise slicer or the slowest one, in addition to other zany descriptors.

Halloween is just around the corner so as part of the free update, Beat Games will also launch a Halloween special - a brand new song called "Spooky Beat" by Jaroslav Beck. This song will be available in solo and multiplayer mode.

Longtime Beat Saber players have been calling out for multiplayer for a while, but apparently it was not an easy process."It was a complex feature to develop," according to the developers writing on the PS Blog.
