It might sound crazy, but try closing your eyes the next time you go fishing in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Oddly enough, you'll probably catch more fish — and most of the internet agrees that the unorthodox technique works.

A recent thread on Reddit pointed out the benefits of "blind fishing." When you cast your line out in New Horizons, there are two ways the game sends feedback about what's going on under the water —visual cues and audible cues.

The visual cues include the fish swimming towards the bobber and it subsequently going underwater if a fish is hooked. Players who fish based on visual feedback tend to reel the line in before the bobber goes under. Watching the fish swim towards your line gets you ready for the bite, leading to an early button push — and a failed fishing attempt.

Audible cues, on the other hand, don't have the same sort of anticipation. Just close your eyes and listen for the two different splashes. Try it out for yourself, and you'll notice an improvement right away. Instead of preparing to reel the line in you'll simply react to the audible cue when necessary.

Now if only there was a surefire way to stop catching Sea Bass.
