Nintendo still has some DLC characters yet to announce for season 2 of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. There is a pretty much zero percent chance Bernie Sanders will be included as this meme jokes, but what if it happened? The Internet would loose their minds if someone like Mario went up to an old man, spun them around to reveal Bernie sitting in his chair with cozy mittens. He may be old, but one can bet he can still pack a punch if he needs to. If not, that chair is probably pretty deadly.

If Bernie Sanders did make it into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate then that means he would also get an Amiibo. Forget the DLC, this is all one needs to be satisfied. Does the mustache being placed over the mask make sense in this meme? No, but Mario’s Capture ability from Super Mario Odyssey did not make a lot of sense in the first place. If Mario is taking over someone’s mind then why do they grow a mustache? The simple answer is because it is silly and one shouldn’t question it just like one shouldn’t question this meme. Mario can Capture humans so who is to say he couldn’t do the same to old Bernie here.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is the opposite of a Mario game. Instead of using power-ups to vanquish foes, Captain Toad has to use his brain. He doesn’t have many power-ups at his disposal because he is collecting them for Mario. Well, what if instead Bernie Sanders was spliced into a bunch of star bits and Captain Toad had to reassemble them star by star? It’s a weird premise of a game, but don’t think about that. Just laugh at the meme and enjoy it.

Beedle and Bernie are two names that are already close together. Their ages are far apart so maybe a better switch would have been to add Bernie in where the Old Man, aka the King, meets Link after he wakes up. While that too would make for a funny meme, Bernie becoming a merchant is also pretty great. Just imagine Bernie hauling around that heavy backpack all over Hyrule. It’s a tough job but someone has to do it.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is actually a game that incorporated politics into it. That is to say, politicians used the game in order to spread awareness which Nintendo shut down. Real life cancelations aside, let’s all pretend Bernie Sanders made his own island in order to live out his dream. It would be like the paradise he always wanted except with animals.

This is a funny meme to be sure from Deadly Premonition 2, but it makes one wonder about real life. Can Bernie Sanders play an instrument? That is actually a great question and one that has a fascinating answer. He may not play an instrument here, but in 1987 he released a folk album called We Shall Overcome. He’s not really singing so much as he is narrating sections as other vocalists do the heavy lifting, but it’s still an interesting note in history.

This is another meme that has Bernie Sanders jump into the role of a merchant. Moonlighter, for those unaware, is a roguelike wherein players assume the role of a shopkeeper by day and then plunge the dungeons at night in order to secure wares for their shop in the morning. It’s kind of like Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker to link things back to another Nintendo game. It’s fun to imagine the real Bernie fighting evil at night while preaching the good word during the day.
