The new year is here and promises some great gaming experiences throughout the next 12 months. Unfortunately, January will be a bit of a slow month for a ton of new games, but for those that are excited to get this year started off right, there are some great games being released this month. Here are some of the best to get the year off to a great start.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne (PC)

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne enjoyed a successful console release in September of the past year and will be making its way to PC in a few days. It has a release date of January 9th and the PC upgrade will boast some gorgeous 4K graphics, an uncapped frame rate, and a handful of other things that only PC can provide. For fans of the franchise (or gamers in general) picking up Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is an amazing way to start 2020.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

Boasting a dynamic art style, this open world action RPG allows fans to play in the Dragon Ball Z universe and relive some of the most iconic moments from the world-wide hit anime. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is set to release on January 17th. This isn't just a rehash of the anime as the game will feature some additional storylines that hope to expand the world of Dragon Ball Z even further. The game looks like a lot of fun and should appeal to not only fans but anyone interested in checking out a solid Action/RPG.

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD (Switch)

The Nintendo Switch has successfully ported games time and time again. This time should be no different with the release of Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD coming to the console on January 23, 2020. The original Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath released on the Xbox back in 2005 and an updated version came to the Playstation 3 at the end of 2011. It makes its Nintendo debut and features the type of engaging, fun gameplay that fans of the Switch have come to expect. It fits perfectly in their lineup of outstanding ports and for those who haven't played it before, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD is a worthy pickup.

Warcraft III: Reforged

It has been a long time coming for the Warcraft III: Reforged release. Originally announced in 2018, the remaster to Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne was set to come out in 2019 but was delayed and now has a release date of January 28th. The wait should be worth it, though as fans of the franchise will get to relive some great games that came out over 15 years ago. A real-time strategy game, Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos received critical praise and helped push the Warcraft franchise forward in exciting ways. For those who didn't get the chance to play the originals (or those who want that sweet nostalgia) Warcraft III: Reforged is a must buy.
