One of the things that gamers love about video games is the complex familial ties that link various characters together. Plenty of famous gaming characters have little brothers that you may not have even known they were little brothers, to begin with. While the eldest sibling is often shown to be the one in control of situations, the younger one is usually the one people resonate with the most.
For whatever reason, gaming seems to love the idea of creating sets of twin brothers, making an age difference incredibly small. You may tend to pick out the older sibling, especially if you were a 'player one' growing up, but the little brothers, the 'player twos', can be just as good.
10 Naiee - Brothers: A Tale Of Two Sons
It’s hard to not love both brothers from Brothers: A Tale Of Two Sons, but many people find themselves attached to Naiee. The two brothers' entire journey sees them out searching for the water of life in order to help save their father.
Experiencing the tragic events of the story is the thing that makes everyone love the younger brother. He does everything he can to help both his father and his older brother, but he learns that even though having the courage to stand on your own isn’t an easy thing, everyone can do it.
9 Travis Touchdown - No More Heroes
No More Heroes is a stranger game than most, but that might be why so many people are drawn to both the series as a whole and the main protagonist, Travis Touchdown. Travis is the younger twin brother of Henry Cooldown, someone who acts as both a rival and an occasional ally.
People often find themselves loving Travis’ crude and brash attitude, something that is on full display with a majority of the people he comes across. The strange assassin is one that anyone would likely love to have as a younger brother. He might be a pain, but he’d keep things interesting.
8 Michelangelo - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
While multiple Ninja Turtles would technically count as a younger brother, a lot of people tend to forget about the youngest and wildest of the turtles, Michelangelo. As most of the Ninja Turtle games allow you to choose whichever one is your favorite to play with, Michelangelo is the perfect player two.
Skateboarding around and taking out ninjas with a pair of nunchucks has never looked as good as when Michelangelo enters the scene. He may be the youngest, but he’s shown time and time again that he is just as skilled as his older brothers in all of their games.
7 Billy Lee - Double Dragon
Fans of the Double Dragon series might prefer one brother over the other, but most people got their introduction to the series by playing as Billy Lee. The fantastic fighter does everything he can to save his girlfriend Marian from a band of villains, with or without his older brother.
Something that makes him a great younger brother is both his bond with his brother and the fact that he is willing to go toe-to-toe with him as well. While he and Jimmy are twins, and their exact ages have been up for debate over the years, Billy is typically acknowledged as the younger twin.
6 Carl Johnson (CJ) - Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
It should be pretty clear how much people love CJ when you think of just how many memes have lovingly come from GTA: San Andreas. CJ’s older brother may lead their gang, but CJ is the character that everyone ended up appreciating the most.
He’s not always presented as the best guy around, but everyone can respect his drive to earn his place in the world and do right by the people he loves. CJ goes through the wringer in order to help his big brother, including doing everything he can to keep him out of a life sentence.
5 Sabin - Final Fantasy 6
For many people, the Figaro brothers, Edgar and Sabin are a package deal. Everyone has their own reasons for loving a character, but few are so legendary that they can literally suplex a train as Sabin can. He’s yet another twin brother, but he is generally regarded as the younger of the two.
Both his love for martial arts and a life filled with carefree adventure are something that a lot of people can respect. Luckily, the twins have a decent relationship, and Sabin’s lack of interest in his kingdom’s throne may be a big part of that.
4 Dante - Devil May Cry
The Devil May Cry series has some interesting relationships, but many people point to the strained relationship between Dante and Vergil as their favorite. Dante is the younger of the twin brothers, but despite being twins, they couldn’t be more different.
While they have come a long way from their original appearances, Dante is generally a carefree and mouthy man with little respect for demons. While Dante embraced humanity, Vergil did the exact opposite, something that practically set the brothers onto a collision course with one another.
3 Kuai Liang (Sub Zero) - Mortal Kombat
Those that don’t keep up with Mortal Kombat lore on a more in-depth level may not know that the Sub-Zero featured as the main hero from the franchise isn’t the original. The original Sub-Zero was Bi-Han, Kuai Liang’s older brother.
After Bi-Han’s death, Kuai Liang took up the mantle to avenge his brother's death and finish his mission to defeat Shang Tsung. He proves his superiority by aligning with the side of good while his older brother is re-animated as the dark fighter known as Noob Saibot.
2 Luigi - Super Mario

Every Nintendo fan loves Mario, but those that love Luigi felt like they were left in the dust for a long time. With the release of the various Nintendo party games and the Luigi’s Mansion series, Luigi finally got the respect that many felt he deserved.
The younger of the twin plumbers is usually depicted as the more cowardly of the duo, but he has plenty of unique abilities. The classic player-two character has proven his worth as a hero by saving his famous brother on a few separate occasions as well.
1 Nathan Drake - Uncharted
For a long time, a lot of people didn’t even know that Nathan Drake actually was a younger brother. With the release of the fourth mainline Uncharted game, players were introduced to Nathan’s older brother, Sam.
What makes Nathan such a great character as a little brother practically speaks for itself within the events of Uncharted 4. At every point of the story, Nathan does what he can to protect his older brother as Sam constantly throws himself into dangerous situations. Everyone could use a younger brother like Nathan Drake.
