RPGs have been a staple genre of video games since the earliest days of gaming, initially drawing influence from traditional RPGs. Child of Light is a highly underrated turn-based RPG with a distinct visual style and an active time battle system reminiscent of many classic entries in the Final Fantasy series.

While the game offers a solid single-player experience, it allows a second player to control a firefly that can be used in many ways in and out of combat, able to interact with items, heal party members, and stall foes, while another player controls the core party.
