Everyone is deep in superhero fervor right now, and it's never been more the case in the realm of video games. Whether it's a known entity, or just riffing on the spectacular characters of Marvel and DC, there's a huge library of games on every console if you want to swing like your favorite web-slinger or protect the city like the Man of Steel.

This is also true of the Nintendo Switch, which features several official tie-in games with classic brands and all sorts of original characters. Whether you want something with the vibe of a Marvel movie, or a playful experience to jump around with powers in, there's likely something for you on Nintendo's current all-star hardware.

Fans have spent a long time waiting for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, as the first two games have been hailed as underrated classics in the superhero genre. This game does exactly what many players want from a game with these characters, letting you play as any number of heroes in a spectacular top-down brawler experience.

This game is a must-have for Marvel fans, both from the current films and classic comics alike. It's not the only game on this list to give you a huge toybox of characters to play with, but few have as much smooth polish as this hotly anticipated experience.

9 Super Hero Fight Club: Reloaded

On the indie side of things, there are plenty of games on the Nintendo Switch that use their own characters, using the superhero spotlight to give a powerful theme to its world. This is just the case of the pixel-style Super Hero Fight Club Reloaded, a multiplayer action game that's all about heroes fighting through the sky.

This game is quite similar to many casual-competitive brawlers like Duck Game and Towerfall, but the perpetual flight makes it feel uniquely dynamic and fulfills that superhero dream of blasting through large environments. If you want something small and simple to fight your super-fan friends in, this is absolutely the thing for you.

8 88 Heroes

Another indie experience worth mentioning is 88 Heroes, a platformer with original superhero characters with all sorts of gimmicks. This game lies much more on the silly side of things, with every character being some sort of pun or parody with a power that helps them comically flail through the level.

This isn't to say it's childish, though, as it's a pretty challenging experience with a ton of variety for any gamer. It's an underrated gem that will continuously surprise you as you grab onto new characters with their own movesets, powers, and styles.

7 My Hero One's Justice

Superhero fans who enjoy anime are sure to be quite familiar with My Hero Academia, but if you haven't taken in the show you're definitely missing out on a unique superhero experience. Thankfully, the new My Hero One's Justice game is able to provide a similarly unique experience, being a 3D fighting game with characters from throughout the series.

This game plays quite like a Dragonball fighting game, complete with wide environments and spectacular moves as you blast around the battlefield. It's a great thing to try as a fan of the series, but could be an easy bridge into it if you haven't tried it before.

6 Hades

Using the Aspect of Gilgamesh in Hades

There are a couple games that you might not think of superhero games, but it's hard not to recommend them because of how easy it is to feel like a hero playing them. Hades is perhaps the greatest example, putting you in a Greek myth of Zagreus escaping from the Underworld.

This game has a huge variety of weapons and elemental gifts from gods, making you feel more and more powerful as you progress through the roguelike challenge of the game. The more you play, the more variety you'll experience, and you'll have enough power by the end of a run to match nearly any superhero with both strength and speed in your upgrades. It also sticks out as a big 180 from Supergiant's previous solo-player title.

5 Fortnite (Battle Royale)

The other unsuspecting superhero game to mention is Fortnite, which has quickly grown from a battle royale into a strange social environment with characters from across film, television, and gaming. This includes countless Marvel and DC characters, who each come with their own unique skins, items, and special game modes.

Quite recently, the game even had a major climactic event against Marvel's Galactus, with characters teaming with heroes to protect the world in a way utterly unique from the usual Fortnite gameplay. It's a strange experience and one that's only gotten more interesting for superhero fans as it grows on.

4 Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2

The Lego games have been spectacular for any fan of the classic toy, but the Lego Super Heroes series has been an especially strong candidate for anyone who enjoys Marvel superheroes in all their forms. This game is absolutely silly and comedic, but its consistent level style fits well with the variety of characters you collect over the campaign.

These games are also a great challenge for completionists, having one of the biggest rosters and pile of collectibles compared to nearly any game in existence. If you pick up one of these games, you'll absolutely have something to explore and search for in the months to come.

3 Lego DC Super-Villains

While not too different from the earlier-mentioned Lego Marvel Super Heroes series, there's something especially notable for the style and characters of Lego DC Super-Villains as well. This alternate take on the series puts the bad guys first, with many characters like Lex Luthor and Deathstroke having rarely been playable in many games before.

Few games put you in the place of an antagonist, and this game provides every one of them with a much more distinct experience than any prior superhero or Lego game. If you're not as partial to the Marvel brand, this is definitely one of the highest recommendations for your superhero needs in Lego form.

2 Batman: The Telltale Series

For quite a while, Telltale Games was pumping out all sorts of games about popular franchises, and many may have missed their Batman games over the course of this flurry. Nonetheless, it's a great example of a Batman game with a different coat of paint than the action-based fighting and action games of the series past.

This is also one of the few games that gets Batman's detective nature really right, as well as the human element that often gets covered up by exciting fighting and backstories. You get a fair amount of time as Batman, but you really do become the man behind the mask as you make his decisions over the course of the story.

1 The Wonderful 101: Remastered

The last and perhaps most significant superhero game worth mentioning is The Wonderful 101, an absolute gem from the Wii U that few people ended up enjoying due to the disinterest in the console it came to. This Remastered version brings everything back from the original with sharper visuals and some less gimmick-heavy gamepad mechanics.

This game is a great action game that plays like an action-oriented version of Pikmin, as you control tons of heroes with different powers from high above. It's a great inclusion for any Switch-lover's library, but fans of the superhero genre in other forms of media will absolutely enjoy this camp-filled and exciting adventure.
