Dialogue choices such as the ones seen in a game like Dragon Age: Origins make role-playing games more intriguing. Being able to influence the events of the game causes your actions to be momentous. In role-playing games, you can make choices, complete quests, and improve your gear while assuming the role of a fictional character.
Probably your life is not as exciting as the video games listed below. RPGs offer a realistic experience that you wouldn't ordinarily have. These titles have won awards, and acclaim for being the best video games ever made. In many ways, The Witcher 3 can be compared to The Elder Scrolls games. In both games, you play as one protagonist who has been gifted god-like powers. Despite being hated by many of the human beings within the game, The Witcher tries to save humanity from mythical creatures like the one in the above photo. The gameplay of Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a step up from Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. Playing the Witcher games in order is recommended, but not required.

The second generation of Pokémon games brought a slew of new Pokémon to the series. Pokémon Crystal released after Pokémon Gold and Silver and is part of the same generation. Pokémon Crystal made several changes such as including Pokémon from both gold and silver that were previously exclusives. Pokémon Crystal is the central legendary Pokémon in Crystal, and Suicide falls into the story periodically throughout the game. Allowing players to journey to Kanto and Johto was a brilliant idea that worked well in the game. With added content and some of the best designed Pokémon of all time, there's no way we could exclude Pokémon Crystal from this list.
8. Fallout 4
Aside from having a rocky start, Fallout 4 has proven to be a worthy successor to Fallout 3. Building houses and bases have never been so detailed in a Fallout game. Also, the addition of mods to console versions of the game makes sure that nobody is left out on loads of fun. Using mods, you can turn your character into Darth Vader and give him a lightsaber. To some, mods enhance the game while others prefer Fallout 4's vanilla version.
Fallout 4 allows players to make decisions to influence the outcome of the game. With downloadable content such as Far Harbor, Nuka-World, and Automatron, there is more than enough material to last over one hundred hours of enjoyment.
7. Stardew Valley
Every now and then, someone develops a low-budget game that garners huge sales numbers. Since its release, Stardew Valley has sold more than 3.5 million copies. When we think of Stardew Valley a few games come to mind. Stardew Valley can be compared to games like Minecraft, Harvest Moon, RimWorld and more. Stardew Valley released recently, but it has a classic look reminiscent of the MS-DOS era.
Completing quests, talking to people in town and passerby, and growing a productive farm are among the things you can do in Stardew Valley. The story of this game is interesting, to say the least. You can also craft using resources and get married to other characters in Stardew Valley.
6. Divinity: Original Sin II
Divinity: Original Sin II may as well be considered the Diablo 3 we never received. The game contains some of the most intense battles from a third-person view. Interacting with the environment appears more lifelike compared to Diablo 3. The website of gamespot.com awarded Divinity: Original Sin II a perfect 10.0. This lesser-known gem happens to be one of the greatest role-playing games we've seen thus far. The game released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Please, give Divinity: Original Sin II a try. You won't be disappointed.
5. Persona 5
The hype around Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the addition of Persona 5's protagonist, Joker, was justified because of how electrifying Persona 5 is. The main story of Persona 5 will take players approximately 96 hours, but it could take even longer. It has been eight years since the launch of Persona 5, and it was well worth the wait. The environments are surreal and bizarre at times. The game has lots of talking scenes, choices to make, and action sequences. If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, it is advisable to wait for Persona 5 The Royal, which will make adjustments to gameplay and add additional characters.
4. Dragon Age: Origins
Dragon Age: Inquisition could have replaced Dragon Age: Origins if it didn't fall short in several categories. The story and companions were not nearly as good in Dragon Age: Inquisition compared to Dragon Age Origins. When Dragon Age: Origins released, it was a go-to game for a lot of people. Dragon Age: Inquisition comes at a time with a flooded RPG market. Instead of playing Dragon Age: Inquisition, you may as well play Diablo 3 or The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Dragon Age: Inquisition is not a bad game, but it was way less impressive as Dragon Age: Origins was when it released.
3. Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic II: The Sith Lords
While the first Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic was made by BioWare, its sequel was developed by Obsidian Entertainment. Since the first game was as good as it was, it would have been trying for Obsidian Entertainment to mess up KOTOR 2. Some of the same planets and new ones are found in this game. Being able to choose your own path as a follower of the dark side or the light side is one of the reasons the sequel was a hit. Added lightsaber battles, more Force powers, and an intriguing story are why we love Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords - and are still waiting for a sequel.
2. Mass Effect 2
Bioware's sequel to Mass Effect is widely considered to be the best Mass Effect and role-playing game ever made. Even today, the game looks beautiful graphically.
In Mass Effect 2, players once again assume the part of Commander Shepard, a protagonist whose background you select. Featuring multiple cameos from famous actors like Martin Sheen, Seth Green, and Carrie Anne Moss, Mass Effect has an engaging story that rarely deviates from awesomeness. If you want to get into role-playing games, Mass Effect 2 would be an excellent place to start.
1. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition
It was close, but The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition has a slight edge over Mass Effect 2. Set in the mountainous province of Skyrim in the continent of Tamriel, the fifth Elder Scrolls game happens to be the best in the series. Considering other remasters, Skyrim received one of the better ones. Improvements including volumetric shading, dynamic depth of field, and improved shaders to land and water make The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition a masterpiece. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition includes all the game's downloadable contact such as the Dragonborn add-on that allows you to visit Morrowind.
Fans of the game are eagerly waiting for the sequel to Skyrim. Although past Elder Scrolls games are amazing RPGs, Skyrim was way more impactful and was enjoyed by a wider audience. Since the release of Skyrim, it has been ported numerous times.
