Older gamers recall how grinding was basically an accepted part of most RPGs. These days it is considered negative for a single-player RPG to require it. Online games, on the other hand, revel in players grinding either experience points or events in order to earn the best gear. As a young person, it is no sweatm wasting hours going through Destiny Raids several times over. Once you get older, time becomes more valuable and you don't feel so inclined to grind the same levels and enemies.

2020 was extremely difficult for a lot of people, and it does not seem like 2021 will be a lot better. Fortunately, gaming has helped many through these trying times. While a small solace, it assists us exponentially. Animal Crossing: New Horizons in particular has been praised for its slow pace and regular regiment helping people hold onto some sense of normalcy and routine. Even tragic titles like The Last of Us Part 2 help us cope. Great art, even if it is sad, helps us believe in humanity.

In reality, his philosophy towards game design is a lot more nuanced and less cruel than you'd imagine.
