Nintendo's Ring Fit Adventure has become an incredibly popular game as of late. While COVID-19 has certainly played a role in that rise to popularity, the ability to get a solid workout from home while playing through a fairly detailed RPG is a fun prospect, and it really works. Ring Fit Adventure is a fun, challenging time.

If you want to get the most out of the game, these tips will help you max out your workout.

Updated March 31st, 2021 by Stephen LaGioia: With many gamers and non-gamers still spending more time at home, Nintendo's hit fitness romp has continued to chug along, propelling to nearly 9 million sales as of December 2020. More and more have warmed up to the idea of getting a great workout from the comfort of their home — while having fun doing it. The free inclusions of a Rhythm game and Jog-exclusive mode have also helped keep its momentum going. With this in mind, it seemed appropriate to beef up this list with some more techniques and features to help new and returning players get the most out of Ring Fit Adventure.

14 Play Free Jogging Mode

As it happens, there's a way to simply enjoy the great virtual outdoors without the need of dealing with pesky monsters in one's path. Thanks to the added Jogging mode, players can focus on cardio alone by jogging and running straight through various stages. This feature can be found in both the Custom and Quick Play modes.

It offers lengthy paths that feature ample jogging, along with a few jump, squat, and knee-lift prompts mixed in. As such, it's a great way to warm up for a full-on workout, or just to mix things up.

13 Utilize Multitask Mode

Those who find themselves on the go or occupied with household tasks can take advantage of Multitask Mode. This is a remote feature that allows players to build up reps with the Ring-Con without the game playing.

After setting the Switch to sleep mode and attaching the Joy-Con, simply press on the joystick button for a second. This will lead to a light and sound prompt, which means it's ready to receive reps.

Players can then push and pull the Ring-Con just as they would in the game. This allows the calorie-burning to keep going separate from the game. Not only this, but reps can even be stored and gifted to friends, yielding XP, coins, and ingredients. This can only be pushed to 500 reps at once, but over time it can certainly make a difference.

12 Partake In Sidequests At The Store

The various General Stores are handy when it comes to stocking up on useful boosting and healing items. However, it also acts as a sort of hub to tackle various side quests.

These usually amount to things like revisiting a stage and slaying a certain foe, but they can bring more money, items, and XP. Moreover, doing these extends the gameplay and adds some challenge, leading to better workouts.

11 Play (Almost) Every Day

At least for those who don't have an ultra-busy lifestyle, there's no excuse to not play Ring Fit almost every day! Unless engaging in different types of workouts such as running, it is super important to stay consistent with one's adventure in Ring Fit.

Workouts aren't always too fun, but Ring Fit Adventure offers a fun gaming spin on it to liven things up, and that certainly helps! While it's important to have one or two rest days a week, stay consistent by playing at the very least a level or so about five days a week.

10 Focus On Setting And Using The Right Fit Skills

When deciding what Fit Skills to set before jumping into a level, make sure a relatively balanced selection is set.

If the goal is to work one or two parts of the body that day, then pick a nice blend from those sections. For something a bit more full-body, pick skills that target a variety of muscle groups. Be sure to pick ones that are somewhat challenging, too. Not just the easy ones.

9 Rotate Out Fit Skills

It should be stressed that many Fit Skills can be earned as the game goes on, and they can all be swapped out on the fly. As mentioned, having a balance is good, but despite the general groupings, each Fit Skill is somewhat unique. Thus, it's a good idea to sift through several of them to "keep the body guessing," and to keep the experience feeling fresh.

Not only this, but certain stages will stress a certain monster color that shows up most often. This coaxes players to swap out Skills colors to better match these enemy colors, as it will make these moves more powerful against them.

8 Do The Cooldown And Warmup

Stretching is very important for one's body, so don't skip the warmup and cooldown stretches that crop up when beginning and ending the game.

They're an essential part of any workout, so don't just skip them to rush into getting on with the day's happenings. Take the time, as it's worth the few minutes required.

7 Try The Minigames

If boredom is creeping in, why not check out the minigames? These allow players to still get a solid workout, but with a bit more entertainment value and in smaller bites. While one minigame isn't going to cut it for an entire session, they're a fun distraction or a way to add a few minutes to one's playtime.

6 Custom Mode Can Be A Better Workout

Custom Mode is another game mode that allows players to set up their own workout in any way that they want. This can do a few great things. It can help create a targeted workout for one section of one's body, make a set of favorite exercises, and overall, get a better workout.

Doing even just two custom sets can help towards burning more calories than one might necessarily do in the main game. Switch things up every now and then. While the adventure is fun, players might be able to get a better workout in other areas of the game.

5 Keep The Difficulty Up

Each day, the game will pose a bumping up of the difficulty, something that should be done assuming it's in the cards. The increase shouldn't be too drastic, but one level every few days will make a big difference.

If the workouts aren't really sweat-inducing or tough, dial up the difficulty. Push yourself, but make sure you're staying within your limits. Don't go too hard if you aren't ready.

4 Try The Rhythm Games

The new rhythm games offer players a selection of Ring Fit tracks and other Nintendo music to play a rhythm game to. The music is fantastic, and allows Nintendo nerds to have a fun time while getting a solid workout. Let's hope that they add more music into this game mode soon, as it is a ton of fun and is great service for fans of Nintendo's other properties.

3 You Don't Have To Listen To The Game Audio

Getting tired of the Ring Fit Adventure in-game soundtrack? Well, you don't have to keep listening to it. Turning on a podcast or listening to a personal soundtrack can help to make Ring Fit Adventure a much more fun experience, and can help to cut through any monotony that might crop up while playing the game. It can make the workout experience at least a little more entertaining and thrilling.

2 Focus On Your Form

The game always has a guide up of what one's form should look like during every exercise, follow it. Form is an incredibly important part of exercise, because if things aren't done properly, soreness or injury can follow. Follow what the game tells says to do, otherwise, it'll be counterproductive and potentially even harmful.

1 Have Fun!

Overall, though, Ring Fit Adventure is a video game first, have fun with it. The game is meant to be played and enjoyed, not hated. If you really aren't feeling it, don't force the issue — take a day off. Stay healthy of course, but don't make yourself do something that you don't want to.
