There are very few shiny Pokémon that come in a brilliant shade of white, with many that seem white actually being closer to grey or beige. But, the few white shinies that exist are all really great. There's something about the stark contrast of white against various colors, making a lot of white shinies really cool.

But, it's time to look at the absolute best among them. Not all shiny forms are made equal in the world of Pokémon, so some end up being much better than others. Here are the best white shiny forms, ranked.

10 Zygarde

Zygarde is such a dark, mysterious Pokémon, and its normal coloring of black and acid green is a testament to that. But, its shiny form takes things in an entirely different direction, opting instead for a brilliantly bright white with a great shade of turquoise.

Some might say it kind of looks like toothpaste, and they aren't wrong, but it's a great combination that exists very rarely in the Pokémon universe. Each of Zygarde's forms takes on this coloring, and it's hard to decide which of them is the best.

9 Amaura

Amaura and its evolution, Aurorus, are two fossil Pokémon that were introduced in Generation VI. They're both Rock/Ice-types, adopting a light blue color scheme to reflect their snowy origins. Over 100 million years ago, these Pokémon lived in cold regions. It's said that they can create auroras, which is really cool.

When shiny, the light blue of these two becomes snow white. Other than just looking really great, it also matches perfectly with their ability to create auroras, which are colored lights in the sky. White is the combination of all colors of light, so it's a great match.

8 Guzzlord

Ultra Beasts are extradimensional creatures that came to Alola in the plot of the Generation VII games. Some of them are pretty cool, like Pheromosa and Kartana, while others are really ugly, like Guzzlord. This gigantic Dragon/Dark-type is typically a deep shade of dark grey or black with a terrifying set of yellow fangs.

When shiny, it swaps this coloring for an interesting combination of red-orange and white. This combination is really interesting, and it definitely adds some visual interest to Guzzlord's otherwise-terrifying design.

7 Female Meowstic

Meowstic is an interesting Pokémon design, having very different appearances based on gender. Male Meowstic are dark blue with white elements, while the reverse is true for female Meowstic. They almost seem to be like opposites, swapping colors and having few other differences.

In their shiny forms, both genders see their dark blue parts switch to a terrible shade of pale yellow. On the male, it's bad, but on the female, it adds a perfect bit of highlighting on its otherwise white coat.

6 Scatterbug

The Scatterbug line is very well known for its playfulness with color and design. Vivillon, the final stage of the line, comes in 20 different patterns and colors. Scatterbug and Spewpa, the two stages before Vivillon, are grey and white with bits of color splotched around them.

In their shiny forms, Scatterbug and Spewpa swap their grey parts with their white sections. For Scatterbug, the result is a cool contrast of a white body with a grey neckpiece and antenna. It speaks to its eventual form in all the colors of the rainbow, much like Amaura.

5 Zeraora

One of the newest mythical Pokémon to be introduced in the series is Zeraora, an Electric-type introduced at the end of Generation VII. Like most Electric-types, it has lightning bolt themes on its body and is mostly yellow, black, and blue. Why Game Freak refuses to break out of this rut is unclear, but Zeraora fits into it perfectly.

However, its shiny form is off the charts in terms of cool. It swaps the yellow for a brilliantly stark white, while most of its black elements turn a nice teal. It does retain the yellow on its forehead and elsewhere, but the combination is overall super sick.

4 Xerneas

It's not evident why, but most of the interesting white shinies are in Generation VI. The early-generation shinies are usually strange colors, instead of black or white. This is the generation where shinies started being done manually, so perhaps that contributed, but it's not clear. Regardless, Xerneas, one of the box legendaries from Generation VI, has a great white shiny form.

Normally, Xerneas is a blue and black deer with rainbow antlers. When shiny, it becomes white and light blue but retains the rainbows in its antlers. It's a great design that pops with color and gives something very exciting for the eyes to feast on.

3 Salazzle

Oh, the queen, Salazzle. This feisty lizard-lady is a really terrific design, with its whip tail and fantastic fiery chest markings. This all-female Pokémon is sly and devilish, featuring a jet-black body with pink accents on its body and tail.

There isn't much that can make this iconic lady much cooler-looking, but somehow, its shiny form managed to do just that. Salazzle trades its black body for a bright white coloring, which contrasts amazingly well with the grey on its stomach and the pink elements.

2 Incineroar

Joining Salazzle in Generation VII is the Fire-type starter line of Litten, Torracat, and Incineroar. Each of these fiery cats is red with black stripes, but their shiny forms are much cooler. The black on each of these changes to stark white, adorning them with great red and white stripes all over their bodies.

Each of these Pokémon looks great, but Incineroar is ultimately the best of the three. The white stripes make it look so much more intimidating, almost like it has some kind of power running through it.

1 Mega Gengar

Finally, the granddaddy of them all, probably one of the best and most beloved shinies of all time — white or otherwise. Gengar is such a popular Pokémon with so many fans that it's extremely disappointing how bad its shiny is. It's basically the exact same color, coming off of the cool blue that Gastly adopts.

However, the makers of Pokémon corrected this horrible shiny in the most extreme way: by introducing one that's so good that it reigns as one of the best of all time. Mega Gengar's shiny is a great harsh white with a gradient to a pale pink toward the extremities. It's just fantastic design all around.
