We all love Fallout; it has become a favorite franchise for many. Now, you have the opportunity to explore the hazardous wasteland of West Virginia with your friends in Fallout 76. You’ll have lots of chances to build up a base with a lot of hidden branches, and after all of your hard work, you’ll have some random kid named xXNarutoFanXx nuke your base and you’ll lose all your belongings; what could be more fun than that?

There are lots of locations and abandoned Vault Tec buildings for you and your friends to explore and raid to upgrade your character. With the entire world of West Virginia for you to discover, you and your friends can do it all and more while singing Take Me Home Country Roads to your heart’s content. At the end of the day, there’s nothing better than that.

But oh no, what’s that, sport? The baddies are hitting you hard and you have nothing to defend yourself with? Well, today’s your lucky day, old chap; with all the wasteland open to you, you can craft all types of deadly weapons to remind them who’s on top of the food chain. Yes, that’s right: take back your home from the ghouls and fiends. From the plasma gun of the future, to the good old reliable baseball bat, to something a little more barbaric. Remind those what good old Uncle Sam has in store for them. You can have it all out here in the open roads of West Virginia.

30 Best: Gauss Rifle

www.kamuiccosplay.com

The gauss rifle is easily the best rifle weapon found throughout the game. It can either be fired rapidly by using the trigger as fast as possible or can be charged up to deal more damage.

The gauss rifle can be upgraded to have more modifications, such as different types of scopes, stocks, and barrels to further improve this deadly weapon. With a base damage count of 110, the gauss rifle is nothing to be taken lightly out in the wasteland.

29 Worst: Rolling Pin

www.nexusmods.com

Picture this: you’re a simple vault dweller baker who just wants to bake for people. Then one day a group of raiders ruins your bakery and you vow revenge with your trusty rolling pin. It’s not going to do you a whole lot; it has more upgrades than the average melee weapon, but that doesn’t mean it’s good. It’s probably best to leave your baking dreams behind and find a better weapon. Sorry, pal, no one ever appreciates the bakers.

28 Best: Laser Rifle

ytec3d.com

Being one of the most versatile weapons in the game, having the laser rifle in your arsenal of weapons is a good idea if you want to play the game to the fullest. With having the most customizable options in the game, you can modify this gun to your heart’s content.

Want a laser sniper? Done. What about a laser shotgun? Yep. This gun is ideal for any vault dweller who wants to get the job done and get it done quickly.

27 Worst: Board

www.gamersdecide.com

Literally the crudest weapon you could find in the game, the board doesn’t hold anything special. It can be upgraded to be bladed, spiked, or punctured. Those materials would be better used for any other weapon, though; it would be a bad idea to try and make this into a viable weapon. The plus side to this weapon, however, is that it’s everywhere, so at least it has that going for it, but not much else. Use only if you need to.

26 Best: Alien Blaster

monkeymods.com

Found in crash sites at the bottom south-east corner of the map, the alien blaster is easily the best unmodified pistol you can find in the game. It is unfortunate that it needs an extremely rare resource to fire the gun, but if you modify it you can make it fire fusion magazines with the Science perk.

Finding this weapon might be challenging, as it is a pretty late-game item. If you’re fortunate enough to find this gun, it will easily change any battle in your favor.

25 Worst: Switchblade

www.youtube.com

Unless you’re with a gang of people who grease up their hair and snapping their fingers down alleyways, then the switchblade is a horrible choice for a melee weapon. It only has one modification, to give it a serrated edge which causes bleeding damage. It’s a useful mod, but that’s all it has going for it. If you wanted to be in a greaser gang then, by all means, use the switchblade; it holds no other meaningful use besides that, however.

24 Best: Assault Rifle

www.nexusmods.com

This is one of the better rifles you can find in Fallout 76, making a must-get gun. It can be modified to whatever you wish it to be. This is a good gun to hang onto throughout the game, and the modifiers you add onto it can make it last even longer.

The only downside is that the ammo type is hard to find in the game; if you can find a steady supply of 5.56mm in the wasteland, then this rifle will get you far in life.

23 Worst: Pipe Wrench

www.fallout4mods.net

The pipe wrench is a very crude weapon found early on in the game. It can be upgraded into a hook pipe wrench which makes it deal more damage and has the chance to disarm enemies. But you are better off using a better melee weapon, like swords.

It lacks any serious modifications that make it into a useful weapon. You’re better off discarding this and moving on to better weapons. And let's be real: there are a lot of better weapons.

22 Best: Combat Shotgun

via: youtube.com

This is a solid option when you have a deathclaw chasing you down and you need to dish out tons of damage in a short amount of time in order to save your life. It can be crafted with easily found materials, making it easy to add to your equipment. Modifying it can add 32 rounds to your shotgun, and you can make it a rapid firing beast of a weapon. The option to craft this into any playstyle is up to you.

21 Worst: Walking Cane

shroomworks.deviantart.com

If you ever find a young whippersnapper trespassing on your property and need to teach him a lesson, then you can use your handy dandy walking cane.

Unless you’re a 70-year-old cranky man, then you won’t get much use out of this melee weapon. It can be modded to have barbed wire go up it and have spikes coming out of it, but it’s probably better off in the hands of those who need it.

20 Best: Gatling Laser

itavisen.no

This huge weapon needs fusion cores in order to fire it, which makes it deal that much more damage. With 500 rounds ready at your disposal, this gun is ready to take on any challenger you will find in Fallout 76.

This gun can be heavily modified to become more accurate, and even deal more damage. It does sadly use fusion cores, which can be very difficult to find. That being said, it’s an insanely good gun and worth the weight and ammo.

19 Worst: Pipe Bolt-Action

myminifactory.com

It’s extremely slow to fire, so there really isn’t any other useful thing about the pipe bolt-action other than it can give you an advantage in the early game. It can be upgraded to fire .50 caliber rounds, but those types of modifications would be better used in stronger weapons.

Pipe weapons aren’t meant to bring you into the latter stages of a Fallout game; they are merely a stepping stone to help new players. That being said, if you find one right out of the vault, use it until you can find something better.

18 Best: Combat Rifle

via: fallout4mods.com

Yet again, what makes this gun such a good option to upgrade is of its versatility to be upgraded into almost gun you would like it to be. It can become a short-ranged hard-hitting rifle or the fast and accurate sniper. The options are nearly endless with the weapon modifications that can be added onto this gun. Night vision, a rapid-fire receiver, or even a changing ammunition type can happen with this gun. Really a great one to have.

17 Worst: Lead Pipe

www.youtube.com

You’re out of options, the Mothman is charging at you, and you decided to take a lead pipe. Bad choice, buddy. It’s just a lead pipe, it can be upgraded to be heavier dealing more damage, so that’s neat.

If you really have no other options, it can be used as a last-ditch weapon to get you out of a hairy situation. You can live out your bandit cosplaying dreams, but you’ll probably meet the same fate as most bandits with lead pipes as weapons.

16 Best: Hunting Rifle

www.modsfallout4.com

A highly accurate and heavy-hitting rifle that you can find early in the game, that only continues to become more and more useful as the game progresses. The hunting rifle can be found just about anywhere in the game, but customizing it is up to you.

It can be upgraded to fire either .308, .50, or .38 caliber ammunition; each dealing their own respective damage amounts. Depending on your ammo situation it can be nice to change what you’re firing at tougher enemies.

15 Worst: Tire Iron

www.youtube.com

The only time the tire iron would be useful is if you found yourself in need of a quick tire change out on the open road. It’s a quick, low-damage melee weapon that only has one modification that can be added.

If you really wanted to live out your cosplaying dream of being the world’s worst raider, then use the tire iron, it would help with that. If you really wanted to upgrade and waste the materials to make the tire iron bladed, you would definitely be the world’s worst raider.

14 Best: 50 Cal machine gun

via: wallscover.com

There really isn’t much to say here, other than that having a 50 caliber machine gun at your disposal is a surefire way to win any challenging battle you find yourself in. It'll guarantee you come out the winner.

Dealing around 21 damage a shot with a 250 round magazine means that any baddy you find who crosses your path will soon be gone. And you can upgrade it to your heart’s content with just about anything you can find.

13 Worst: Syringer

www.youtube.com

So, the problem with the syringer is that you have to be constantly be crafting the different types of ammunition to use for the weapon. Sure, you can make the syringer be upgraded to be a more suitable rifle, with sights and different barrel types for added distance to the range for the weapon. It can be used in many situations, but at the end of the day, you’re much better off with either a normal gun or an ax.

12 Best: Radium Rifle

www.gosunoob.com

If you’re the type of player who likes to add poison damage to your weapons, the radium rifle is the way to go. This deals radiation damage to those who would meet you at the rather unfortunate side of the rifle. The radium rifle is whatever you would like it to be. This weapon can be modified to be like the combat or the hunting rifle, modifying into whatever weapon archetype you prefer to go adventuring with.

11 Worst: Pipe Revolver

www.myminifactory.com

This weapon is a very crude basic one; it's basically nothing more than a starter weapon. It really does not have any use other than being a crutch to help you find better gear. It can be useful for trading and selling, I suppose, but the damage and accuracy aren’t much to talk about.

You can argue that because it multiple upgrades to be added to the weapon making it somewhat relevant to the end game, but there are still other options that can outclass the pipe revolver.
