Spyteam, an unannounced Bethesda game that started before the Microsoft acquisition, has once again had its trademark renewed. We still know little else about it, and Bethesda has still not even confirmed the game’s existence.

The news comes courtesy of YouTuber Skullzi (via PCGamesN), who posted the trademark filing on Twitter. The same YouTuber has been following Spyteam for some time, also noting a 2020 job listing that seemed to be for either Spyteam or Giant Monster at Bethesda’s then-recently opened Austin office.

As noted by PCGamesN, Spyteam was first “revealed” in a trademark filing in 2018. This was filed soon after Bethesda announced the founding of a new office in Austin, Texas, and after the Fallout developer canceled its free-to-play action strategy game BattleCry. That same Austin team was believed to have helped with Fallout 76’s development for a spell before moving on to a new project--which may or may not be Spyteam.

Bethesda has extended Spyteam’s trademark annually since 2018, with the name being basically all we know about this game. We might be looking at a stealth party game like SpyParty, or perhaps a cooperative stealth action game like Hitman but with more than one person (and not necessarily like Hitman 2’s sniper mode). Beyond wild speculation, we’re just waiting for Bethesda to make an official announcement.

Along with Spyteam, we’re also waiting patiently for Bethesda to announce Fallout: New Vegas 2, which is rumored to be the topic of discussion with Microsoft and Obsidian. That's according to VentureBeat reporter Jeff Grubb, who said those discussions are still "very early" and any potential game is still likely to be "years and years away."

Grubb added, “A lot of people at Microsoft think that this could work and there’s a lot of interest to make it happen." Take that for what you will.
