Former Payday Dev Is Working On A Co-op Heist Game

Payday and its more popular sequel Payday 2 never exactly rose above the status of cult classics, but they’ve managed to acquire a strong community of players over the years. The latest development is that some of their former developers have gotten together, founding a new company called 10 Chambers to work on a brand new co-op heist game. “So for me, this game is a game that just has to be made,” Creative Director at 10 Chambers Ulf Andersson explained. “I’m back on the heist shit, basically. So, it’s a heist cooperative first person shooter and it has a sort of a techno-thriller theme. I read a lot of sci-fi books and so imagine everything that cyberpunk is inspired by and a ton of other shit.” Sounds interesting.

Savage PlayStation

PlayStation Acquires Mobile Developer Savage Game Studios

PlayStation just made a big move into the mobile market, buying up a studio called Savage that apparently has a triple-A title in the works. "We made this deal because we believe that PlayStation Studios' leadership respects our vision for how we can best operate and succeed and because they too are not afraid to take chances," Chief Executive Officer at Savage Michail Katkoff said in a statement. "All of that, plus the ability to potentially tap into PlayStation's amazing catalog of IP and the fact that we will benefit from the kind of support that only they can provide. The harder question to answer would be why not?”

Fortnite Its Complicated

Lawsuit Against Fortnite's It's Complicated Dance Thrown Out

The longstanding lawsuit against Epic Games over the dance number known as It’s Complicated has now come to a dramatic conclusion. The winner is in fact nobody. The case was thrown out of court. Epic Games denied the allegations of infringement when they were first made, asking people to “imagine a ballet without a grand jete, a yoga class without a downward-dog pose, or the film Dirty Dancing without Patrick Swayze lifting Jennifer Grey over his head. The steps are merely building blocks of choreographic expression which are not protectable, just as words and short phrases, geometric shapes, and colors are not protectable in written or printed works as protecting them would prevent others from creating new works. Congress made clear that although copyright law protects choreography, it does not protect individual dance steps or simple routines." Well, that’s that, I guess.

Developer Hangar 13 Confirms Mafia 4 In The Works

Fans of the popular Mafia franchise can rest easy knowing that a sequel, prequel, or at least something is currently in the works. The announcement was made that developer Hangar 13 has a new game well underway, but the company held back from revealing any details. The leak back in May however suggests a game set in turn of the twentieth century Sicily. “I'm happy to confirm we've started work on an all new Mafia project,” General Manager Roman Hladík said. “While it's a few years away and we can't share anything more right now, we're really excited to keep working on this beloved franchise and to entertain our players with new stories.” Something to keep an eye on going forward.

The Fracture Map In Valorant Gets An Overhaul

The popular Valorant map Fracture is going to be getting an overhaul at some point in the very near future. The aim appears to be creating better balance. The news comes from Level and Game Designer at Riot Joe Lansford who recently described what the company is planning. “So, Fracture’s been out for a year now. We’re working on a couple of changes right now,” Lansford explained. “I’m not going to spoil too much, but the high level theme is some general quality of life changes across the map and hopefully make A Site a little more defensible, maybe some changes around Dish to make that area a little more usable for both teams, attack and defense.”
