Any week that features a Pokemon Presents is going to feel like almost nothing else happened. Wednesday's presentation was indeed packed with enough info to fill this article all by itself, but believe it or not, there were plenty of other big stories to come out of the video game world this week. More Mario Kart tracks, an impossible Halo challenge, and all of the other biggest gaming stories from the last seven days are below.

Pokemon Presents: Loads More Stuff About Scarlet & Violet

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Leaks Are Ruining The Games Already (1)

Of course, we need to start with Pokemon. This week's Presents started with the reveal that Pokemon Go and Unite will be a part of the World Championships for the first time this year before moving onto all the exciting new reveals about Scarlet & Violet. Most notably, the region we will be getting to know this November is called Paldea. We were also given a closer look at the game's legendary Pokemon which can be ridden around Paldea like motorbikes. A couple of new Pokemon reared their faces, too. Fidough, which is quite literally a dog made out of bread, and the Paldean variant of Wooper, the first posion ground type in the series for more than 25 years.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pack Wave 2

It's not often a five-year-old game gets some pretty expansive DLC. Especially when people continue to buy that game so frequently that it refuses to leave the top ten bestsellers. That's why it was such a nice surprise when Nintendo revealed it would be adding 48 tracks from Mario Kart's past to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Not all at once, but this week, the second wave, headlined by Waluigi's Pinball, finally arrived. A datamine of the update's files also appears to have revealed 15 of the 32 remaining tracks coming to the game in future waves.

Nerfs, Buffs, And Delays For MultiVersus

Millions of people have been playing MultiVersus's open beta. I know that because I'm ranked about eight millionth in the world right now. No, I'm not very good. Anyway, the point of the beta is so Warner Bros. can figure out what does and doesn't work in the game before a full launch. It appears that something is up as the first season, which was supposed to begin a few days from now, has been delayed. No new date announced just yet, but there is good news. MultiVersus will have a presence at Evo for the first time as you read this and after the event, Wonder Woman will be getting buffed while Finn and Bugs Bunny get nerfed.

The Impossible Halo 2 Challenge Wasn't So Impossible After All

halo 2 twitch

A few weeks ago, a streamer offered up a $20,000 bounty in return for the completion of what they believed to be an impossible challenge: completing Halo 2 with all but one of the skulls enabled and you're not allowed to die even once. Turns out that challenge wasn't so impossible after all. It took fellow streamer JerValiN a little more than six hours to achieve the feat and they had a lot of people watching them do it. More than 45,000 of them at one point, a number that meant the 18-year-old Halo game was being watched by 38 times more people than were watching others play Infinite at the time.

Innersloth Almost Scrapped Among Us

Odds are that most of you reading this will have played Among Us at least once, and many of you will have played it a lot more than that during the pandemic. It was one of the surprise hits of 2020 as most of us were locked up at home, but what many people don't realize is the game had already been available for two years by that point. In fact, devs at the indie studio revealed this week that the plan in 2020 was to move on from the original game and work on a sequel. The sudden wave of popularity caused the studio to pivot and build on the first game instead.

God Of War Was Sort Of Very Briefly Available On Xbox

It's not every day you wake up, look at your phone, and see footage of Kratos swinging away with his axe on an Xbox. That day didn't come this week either, but for a brief moment, it appeared to be the case. A very cheap-looking God of War rip-off called War Gods Zeus of Child (catchy) appeared on the Xbox Store via something called the Xbox Creators Collection. It has been removed now, but for a brief period, Xbox owners could play a terrible version of the iconic PlayStation exclusive for just $3.99.
