BioShock is easily one of the most revered games of all time, mostly down to its storytelling, atmosphere, and creative gameplay scenarios. The underwater city of Rapture is a thrilling and harrowing place to explore, especially when you have to contend with the various Splicers and Big Daddies. What makes BioShock so compelling is that there really isn't a wrong way to play the game.

BioShock encourages experimentation through the use of weapons, upgrades, and the crazy gene tonics known as Plasmids. The sheer gameplay diversity on display is part of the macabre charm that BioShock offers its players. Given that the game has been around for over a decade, it's likely many people find themselves doing some downright crazy or bonkers things while playing. Have you been known to do these relatable things as well?

5 Trolling The Big Daddies

A player aims a shotgun at a Big Daddy charging them in an abandoned hallway

Ah yes, the Big Daddies, one of the most formidable foes in BioShock. While these lumbering, drilling brutes might look all-powerful and near-invincible on the surface, you can actually have quite a bit of fun trolling them, much to their dismay. The Big Daddies' main objective is to protect the Little Sisters.

However, one thing many players like to do is to bait them to a certain environmental area to try and trap them between objects given their sheer size. Of course this doesn't always work which can lead to them drilling you in your torso. If you are persistent and devious, however, you can turn these brutes from hulking monstrosities of metal into less ominous opponents, perhaps even a friend?

4 Immediately Regretting Your Little Sister Decisions

BioShock 2: Holding a happy looking Little Sister

One of the biggest decisions you make when playing BioShock is how you choose to deal with your encounter with Little Sisters. Little Sisters, who are guarded by Big Daddies, are essentially bastions of power, especially when it comes to ADAM, the special gene tonic stuff that you need to gain upgrade power, and Plasmids.

The moral decision you need to make when coming face to face with a Little Sister is if you choose to harvest them or rescue them. As you might imagine, a choice between harvesting and rescuing has major implications and can create a moral dilemma in your mind. Harvesting them gives you more ADAM whereas rescuing them saves their lives but gives you less ADAM overall. No matter which decision you make each time, you will ultimately regret it at some point during the game.

3 Trying To Beat Most Enemies With Only The Wrench

BioShock: Jack holds his trusty Wrench

Oftentimes the first weapon you get in many games is a melee weapon. In the case of BioShock, you quickly get a wrench. While a lowly wrench might not sound all that exciting, it's actually a powerhouse of a weapon and can easily and effectively down most Splicers in just a hit or two. So, have you found yourself eschewing other weapons in favor of the wrench during your time playing?

Many players love to try wrench-only runs. There is just something so visceral and enjoyable about smacking a Splicer in the face with the swing of the wrench. Even towards the end of the game where many of your guns are upgraded, the wrench still manages to be highly effective. Plus, the ever-popular electric shock and melee hit combo never gets old. Speaking of electricity...

2 Electrifying Every Body Of Water Possible

Once you have accused some ADAM you can then purchase the electricity Plasmid to inject into your system. As you might imagine, having the powerful ability of electricity quite literally at your fingertips is simply too much fun for its own good. You can also probably imagine that having electricity in a game where you play as a character in an underwater city could be recipe for disaster.

Fortunately, Rapture is held together nicely, for the most part at least. There are still plenty of puddles, leaks, and pools of water that lay strewn about the floors of Rapture. Most players love to shoot a bolt of electricity at a pool of water, especially if a hapless Splicer happens to be standing in eager anticipation of getting shocked. Don't forget to add a quick wrench blow to the head for added thrills.

1 Hacking Everything In Order To Get Free Goodies

Jack, the protagonist in BioShock, is able to earn all sorts of upgrades throughout his journey. One such upgrade is that of hacking. Hacking isn't a particularly unique skill to BioShock, however, its ubiquitous nature when it comes to hacking almost every terminal or machine, is unique. Jack is able to hack turrets, flying robots, vending machines, and random computerized MacGuffins.

If you are thinking about the plethora of uses hacking can be used in BioShock then you are in good company. One of the best things to do is to hack vending machines in order to get health items, ADAM, Plasmids, and even extra ammo, all seemingly for free. Hack away and let the free goodies roll into your pockets.
