What is the One-Hit Kill Challenge?

Challenge to Unlock Crossbow Cold War

To get the base weapon, you must complete a challenge in Cold War's multiplayer. The challenge is to get three one-shot kill medals in 15 matches without using any attachments on your gun.

This may seem hard but is easily achievable if you use the right weapons. There are two guns in particular that everyone should use to complete this challenge quickly: the Hauer 77 and the LW3-Tundra.

Stick to Small Maps Like Nuketown

Nuketown 24/7 is the perfect mode for this challenge. Sure, you could hop into a normal team deathmatch, or any other mode, and get the three medals you need. However, running around Nuketown with a Hauer 77 is sure to make quick work of this challenge.

The focus on close quarters isn't the only benefit to playing on Nuketown. The matches usually end up being much shorter, so it should be one of the quickest ways to get the medals you need.

Play Hardcore to Unlock the Crossbow Quickly

In Hardcore mode, most guns can get one-shot kills. Whilst it will still be easiest with a sniper rifle or shotgun, a headshot with many weapons can kill an enemy instantly. This is because all players have reduced health. If you'd prefer to use the Gallo shotgun or the Type 63 Tactical Rifle, make sure you are playing Hardcore.

What Counts For the Challenge

Sometimes, you might get the last shot on a damaged enemy and think that this will count towards the challenge. However, a kill in this scenario would not give you a one-shot kill medal. As the enemy has already been damaged by somebody else, it would technically not be a one-shot kill, even if you only fired one round.

The only kills that count are those that cause the medal to pop up. Keep an eye at the top of your screen after any kills to see if you secured a one-shot kill for the challenge.

If you want to know how close you are to unlocking the Shadowhunter Crossbow, you can track your stats in the weapon select screen. Go to a loadout, enter the secondary weapon menu, and navigate over to Special Weapons.

The R1 Shadowhunter will be listed below the M79 grenade launcher. Scroll down to the Crossbow and it will show you the challenge and your progress towards completing it.

Remember that you can't use any attachments on your weapon whilst completing this challenge. Check your loadout before the match to make sure you don't hop in and start gunning down enemies with your fully modified sniper.
