Footage has leaked revealing what players can expect from Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War's multiplayer mode.

The tease for what was coming next in the Call of Duty franchise started long ago, but Activision made its players wait for confirmation. The next chapter will indeed focus around a return to the popular Black Ops series in the form of Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War. What's more, as players had hoped, CoD's new battle royale venture Warzone will be coming with it.

As for Black Ops: Cold War's regular multiplayer mode, Activision has promised a reveal of that later this month. On September 9, 2020, to be exact. However, it would appear that someone who has been privy to the information early has let the cat out of the bag. Some fairly poor quality footage of the game's multiplayer mode has leaked online, although already appears to have been discovered and removed by Activision.

That doesn't reverse the fact that it has already been seen by some though, and the clip featured some interesting tidbits. The gameplay appears to take place in Miami and pits 12 players, split into two teams of six, against each other. It is the job of one team to protect an unnamed VIP until they are extracted, while the other team must try and prevent the protectors from completing their mission.

Modern Warzone picked up on the fact that sprint and barge appear to have either been removed or disabled in Black Ops: Cold War's multiplayer. That means players are unable to break down doors and shake buildings. There are also health bars visible above players heads, scorestreaks appear to be returning, and there's a circular mini-map with red dots representing enemy fire.

The clip that was leaked on Twitch lasted for a full seven minutes, so revealed a lot about the multiplayer facet of Black Ops: Cold War to those who had a chance to see it. Although bad news for Activision which would have preferred to unveil all of this itself during next week's official reveal, it's good news for CoD players as a handful of abandoned features appear to be making a welcome return. Bad news for anyone who likes their mini-maps to be square, though.
