Black Panther made his debut in a Fantastic Four comic in 1966 and has become one of Marvel's most iconic and compelling heroes since then. It took a long time for the character to become as easily recognized as Iron Man or Thor, but an immensely successful film in 2018 would help put Black Panther on everyone's radar and showcase the world of Wakanda in all its glory.

6 Disney Infinity 3.0

The toys-to-life genre of games wasn't popular for long, mostly due to the amount of money it cost the consumer to purchase every figure or accessory required for the experience. Disney Infinity was one of the most popular games in the genre, and by the time it reached the third iteration, the developers had almost perfected the formula to create a fun game that could be enjoyed by everyone.

Unfortunately, Disney Infinity 3.0 was the final entry in the series, but it did introduce characters from Star Wars, Finding Dory, and Black Panther before its discontinuation. It might not be easy to find the required accessories these days, but Black Panther was incredibly fun to play as, even if it was just mostly mashing buttons to attack.

5 Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite

The Marvel vs. Capcom series of fighting games is known for having excellent rosters of characters to choose from, stellar combat and combos, and mesmerizing stages. It took a long time for Black Panther to become playable, but he would finally be introduced as a downloadable character in 2017's Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite.

If you prefer playing as a fighter who can move fast and deal damage as quickly as possible, Black Panther is a perfect choice. His claws even allow him to cling to walls, which makes punching your way out of corners much easier. It's not every day you get to see Black Panther interact with characters like Chun-Li from Street Fighter, so that alone makes this game worth looking into.

4 Lego Marvel Super Heroes

Numerous franchises like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and more have been adapted into video games set in the world of Lego. It always felt inevitable that the Marvel universe would receive a similar treatment, so it wasn't a major surprise when Lego Marvel Super Heroes was released in 2013 and featured more than 100 playable heroes, including Black Panther.

Like Disney Infinity, Lego Marvel Super Heroes is mostly mindless fun as you travel from location to location beating up enemies and turning them into a pile of bricks either alone or with friends. Black Panther uses his claws to swipe away bad guys and find his missing cat, Mr. Tiddles.

3 Fortnite

At this point, it's harder to name the franchises that haven't collaborated with Fortnite than the ones that have. From Dragon Ball Z to Resident Evil, you can play Epic's popular battle royale as some of your favorite characters across entertainment, including one of many Marvel characters.

2 Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 1-3

Unlike long-running franchises like Marvel vs. Capcom and Disney Infinity, Black Panther has been a staple of the Ultimate Alliance series since it first launched in 2006. Marvel: Ultimate Alliance is known for bringing a handful of niche characters like Luke Cage and Ms. Marvel to the spotlight, and many people credit it as the first time they ever saw Black Panther in action.

Black Panther played a pivotal role in the campaigns for Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order but was only available as a downloadable character in the second game. Ultimate Alliance helped increase Black Panther's popularity and reputation with anyone who didn't read the comics and showcased his skills and abilities perfectly.

1 Marvel's Avengers: War For Wakanda

A majority of Black Panther's appearances in video games feature the hero in a supporting or minor role, but that problem was finally fixed when Marvel's Avengers released a free campaign in 2021 set in Wakanda. It's relatively short - it may take up to four hours to roll credits - but no other game has captured the essence of the character and his kingdom as perfectly as War For Wakanda.

Everything from the music to the atmosphere makes it feel like you're actually running around Wakanda as Black Panther, and controlling the character has never felt better. His incredible mobility and strength feel great and allow combat to feel fluid and satisfying. You play as a couple of other heroes in the campaign, but for the first time, Black Panther is the real star of the game.
