A new gameplay trailer for the upcoming Blair Witch tie-in gameA new gameplay trailer for the upcoming Blair Witch tie-in game released yesterday and gave fans exactly what they wanted: an extremely good boy to give scritches to. There's also some kind of Mr. Vanish-From-Tree-To-Tree and a spooky broken window that puts itself back together, but the main attraction is clearly that doggo.

Polish developers Bloober Team revealed Blair Witch during E3 this year in an atmospheric trailer that many at first mistook for a new Alan Wake. When the title "Blair Witch" appeared at the end of the trailer, the audience reaction was equal parks confused, excited, and worried about what was going to happen to that dog.

The first gameplay trailer demonstrates that the canine, named Bullet, is a lot more than a silent companion in the new game. The player has access to a command wheel that allows you to control Bullet's actions. "Seek", the top command will send Bullet running a head, presumably to locate a clue or object. The bottom two commands appear to be "Stay" and "Follow", while the two commands on the sides remain unclear. Perhaps "Shake" and "Who's a Good Boy?"

Blair Witch is actually the 4th game in the franchise. A trilogy of games all made by different development teams released back in 2000. The Blair Witch franchise is surprisingly massive, including 3 horror films, 4 mockumentaries, 11 novels, and multiple comic books. Now, the makers of Observer and the Layers of Fear series and are taking the series forward in a new game that looks to take influence from Resident Evil 7 and Turner and Hooch.

RE7 is a strong game to draw from, after all, it is itself heavily influenced by the "found footage" style of horror that the original Blair Witch film popularized. It's all cyclical, just like the cycle of unsuspecting victims venturing into the woods only to be faced with unspeakable horrors. This time, at least, that victim is a cop with a weapons training and a handsome pupperino at his side.

We've already spoiled that the dog is going to die, (not that we know, but come on, it's obvious isn't it?) now that we know that interacting with Bullet is a central gameplay mechanic, there's hope that he'll at least make it until the end of the game. We know the Blair Witch hates people, but how does she feel about man's best friend?
