Just as the seasons shift, the nights get longer, and the eeriest time of year descends upon us, the Blair Witch arrives for a surprise visit to your living room. Tabletop subscription game Hunt A Killer announced that it's partnering with Lionsgate to deliver a new Blair Witch mystery game. And that game is actually closer than you think...

Starting on October 1, you'll be able to get Hunt A Killer Horror: Blair Witch. The game will ship monthly as part of Hunt A Killer's seasonal subscription model, which lasts for six months. That unfortunately means you won't actually be able to solve the mystery of the Blair Witch until March 2021, but you do get a discounted rate for signing up for it all in advance.

The way Hunt A Killer Works is that you get a small box full of clues that piece together much like those of an escape room. The Blair Witch edition has players investigating a missing persons case near the Black Hills Forest. The clues usually consist of impressively-recreated documents like police reports or old yearbooks. There's also typically a physical item included in each month's box, like a keychain or socks. According to Lionsgate SVP Daniel Engelhardt, Hunt A Killer Horror: Blair Witch "builds upon the narrative of the video game we launched last year." That should excite Blair Witch fans, as the game did a great job of telling a new story while honoring what made the original movie so novel. The Hunt A Killer Team specializes in delivering a mystery piece-by-piece, so sprinkle in some restrained horror and they might have something special on their hands.

To sign up for the Hunt A Killer Horror: Blair Witch season, head to the website. Those who order early will receive an exclusive Burkittsville-themed tumbler. They'll also get 25% off the first box with promo code WITCH25. Many of us will probably have to skip the usual Halloween party this year to stay safely inside. But hey – we can still dress up in these goofy D&D Halloween costumes and play Blair witch over Zoom, right?
