BloodRayne: ReVamped is a 3d action-adventure game starring Rayne, a half-human, half-vampire, otherwise known as a Dhampir. Rayne is back after almost two decades since her original starring role in 2002. The original BloodRayne was a flawed but enjoyable horror-tinged action game with frenetic combat and plenty of awesome vampiric powers. The game has now been updated for a modern audience along with its sequel, BloodRayne 2: ReVamped.

These types of games were all the rage back in the early 2000s so it's a bit strange to have a new offering such as this one appear alongside the likes of Devil May Cry or Bayonetta. BloodRayne: ReVamped is a pretty simple game to get into but does feature a lot more combat depth than you might think. The following tips should help you get started in the game.

7 Choose From Two Different Control Schemes

BloodRayne: Revamped gives you two different control setups depending on how you prefer to play the game. You are given the option of a more old-school 3rd-person style setup where you actually dictate some movement with the right thumbstick which will feel more at home for a traditional BloodRayne experience.

However, the more optimal control setup is actually the 1st-person where you move with the left thumbstick and control the camera with the right thumbstick. This setup will feel much more familiar to the control standards of modern games.

6 Always Stay Mobile

BloodRayne: Revamped, much like the original game, is quite challenging, even on the easier difficulty modes. While you can choose between easy, medium, and hard difficulties, the game will stay punish you for mistakes. Due to a wonky camera and some inconsistent hit detection, you will want to stay mobile all the time.

Fortunately, Rayne is an agile character so this shouldn't be an issue. Enemies will crowd around you a lot in this game, especially in the more claustrophobic indoor sections. Get in the habit of staying on the move while attacking in order to take less damage overall.

5 Rayne Takes Damage In Water

This one shouldn't come as much of a surprise given Rayne's Dhampir form. Since Rayne is indeed a half-human, half-vampire she won't outright die in water, but she will take damage over time. The opening stages in particular are tough given that you must navigate through a flooded swamp area in Louisiana.

Rayne can spend a considerable amount of time in the water but she will eventually die if left too long, especially if other enemies are attacking. Your best bet is to stay on the high ground while ensuring your jump and kick jump to the safety of dry land.

4 Look For Breakable Walls

During your time playing ReVamped, you will come across many, many doors that are locked or barred from the other side. While you would think a strong Dhampir like Rayne could easily break down a wooden door, it turns out she can't and must instead find another entry.

Fortunately there are plenty of environmental cues as to where Rayne can enter buildings. If you find yourself unable to enter a location where an objective is, simply find a broken down or boarded wall area and smash kick through it for easy access.

3 Dynamite Is Your Friend

There are a ton of weapons to use in this game. From Rayne's arm blades to the staggering arsenal she can tout around, you won't be without firepower. However, one of the best tools in your arsenal is dynamite. Dynamite comes in short supply so don't just use it at random.

The absolute best place to use dynamite is on the spider-like monster nests. These nests take an incredible amount of damage to destroy and you will want to destroy them right away so they don't keep spawning in terrifying creatures to flank you. Even throwing one dynamite at the nest will deal a good portion of damage to its health bar.

2 Swapping Guns For The Situation

Get in the habit of swapping guns early and often. After the opening tutorial section in Louisiana, you will start to acquire a massive arsenal of guns, from pistols to shotguns, and even a machine gun. When one gun runs out of ammo you will instantly switch to another one.

However, not all guns are efficient with every enemy type. For example, a lower power pistol or revolver can take out most human-type enemies while a shotgun is best used on the spider-like monstrosities. Simply switch to a new gun depending on the combat scenario in order to last longer.

1 Feeding On Enemies For Health

Easily the best vampiric power Rayne has is her ability to jump onto an enemy, straddle them, and drain their life force by sucking their blood. While this is pretty standard for most vampire fiction, it really works wonders in BloodRayne: ReVamped. Not only does it kill the enemy, but it also restores your life bar.

Plus, you eventually get a hook shot type weapon to pull enemies towards you. This weapon in combination with the blood drain ability will allow you to take out the human-type zombie enemies much faster while also ensuring your health bar stays topped up. You can use this ability as much as you want, even when there are crowds of enemies.
