Borderlands 2 is known for its colorful, off-the-wall characters and unique lore. Though the crazy demolitions expert, known as Tiny Tina, probably most exemplifies this. One of the highlights of the game's memorable campaign, Tina is a firecracker and an anarchist of sorts who holds an unhealthy obsession with explosions, revenge, and... crumpets.

Described as the "world's deadliest 13 year old," she possesses something of an unstable, loopy personality that's both enduring and a touch creepy. Her appetite for destruction creates many action-packed moments of chaos in the game, but she's also a wise-cracking jokster who makes for great comic relief in a game full of carnage. Tina also has a dark and complex history though, which at least partly explains her sinister, maniacal ways.

With that said, let's undergo a thorough examination into one of BL2's most interesting and explosive characters, Tiny Tina.

10 Sold To Hyperion As Part Of An Experiment

Many may wonder just what the deal is with this zany firecracker of a character. Though her less-than-stable personality makes more sense once you know her history. Tiny Tina, along with her parents, were in fact sold to the Hyperion corporation to be test subjects for Handsome Jack's experiments in Slag mutation.

She managed to escape captivity by busting out a grenade she had hidden in her dress, but her parents weren't so lucky. Before making it out of Hyperion captivity, she had to endure watching her parents being tortured day after day. This surely accounts for her insane personality and her concerning bloodlust.

9 One Of The Best Demolitions Experts On Pandora

Given that Tina's liberation from Hyperion is a result of her utilizing an explosive to make it to safety, it should be no surprise that she's developed a knack for things that go "boom." Various quests with Tiny Tina in BL2 involve her setting things ablaze or using explosives in one way or another. This includes a pivotal mission in which she's called upon to help blow up a Hyperion supply train believed to be carrying a Vault key.

In fact, her good friend Roland comments that Tina is one of the single greatest demolitions experts on all of Pandora. Put simply - you don't want to mess with her, especially if you've got valuable possessions or property.

8 Her Unhealthy Obsession With Crumpets

Throughout the BL2 campaign, Tina makes various references to cookies and crumpets, and her strange obsession with them. This is especially apparent in the Assault on Dragon Keep DLC, where you're given an optional scavenger hunt mission to collect various types of crumpets, fittingly called "Post-Crumpocalyptic."

In this quest, it comes to light just how unstable Tina is, as it's discovered that crumpets are essentially the only thing she eats. It's unknown where this obsession came from, though it could have originated during her time in Hyperion captivity, where she was likely given cheap sources of food by the company, which could have included crumpets.

7 An Easter Egg That Features Her Voice Actress' Show

Those who possess a keen eye and have played the Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage DLC may have noticed a strange image (even for BL2 standards) on the back of Tiny Tina's bus. The Image is of a grey-haired man sporting an eye patch and riding a unicorn.

This is actually a cheeky reference to a series of sketch comedy shorts co-written and produced by Tiny Tina's voice actress, Ashly Burch. The show is entitled, Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin'? It features wacky and surreal comedy bits centered around a single game that Ashly and her brother Anthony play. The episode being referred to, entitled "Like Big Boss," ends with her dad, "Papa Burch" wearing an eye patch.

6 Her History With Roland

Despite being seemingly a stark contrast to one another in character, Tiny Tina and Roland have a close friendship with a long and rich history. In BL2, Roland explains that "I've saved her life a few times, and she's saved mine more times than I can count."

This close bond is emphasized by a picture of the two of them she keeps in her room, and is a major plot thread in the Assault on Dragon Keep DLC. In fact, the reasoning for her playing the D&D-style "Bunkers and Badasses" is basically to cope with the tragic loss of her dear friend. During the game, she keeps his memory alive in a sense by making him a sort of legendary knight who is a prominent figure in her imaginary story.

5 Has A Soft Side In A Deleted Scene

It turns out Tina has some more depth to her than her wacky, destructive character traits might reveal. During an interview with the game's writers, it was revealed that part of a mission was removed from BL2 involving Tiny Tina. Following the death of Roland, the player was to head to Tina's home and inform her of the sad news.

The scene revealed a softer, more somber side to Tina, as she solemnly thanks them for the news before asking them to leave and locking herself inside her workshop to mourn. While this heartfelt moment stood as basically the only moment showing her in a more subdued light, it would have clashed somewhat with her prominent peppiness.

Though Anthony Burch, who happens to be both the lead writer of BL2 and Ashly's brother, regretted that the scene couldn't be included.

4 Hijacked Claptrap's Twitter Page

There exists a Borderlands 2 - specific twitter page that's named after the protagonist's lovable robot companion, Claptrap. This twitter handle, @ECHOcasts, is still technically active today, but has gone silent since late 2017. Though many of the tweets contain random zany bits, followers might notice the tone shifts to an even more wacky and random one on May 24, 2013.

This is because Tiny Tina had apparently taken over this twitter handle, and explodes out of the gate with several goofy, cryptic tweets. While it's never quite spelled out that she's hijacked the handle, there are a number of hints dropped with tweets that describe or exemplify her character.

These include "I told [Taylor Swift] she's my mom now pretty sure she's psyched about it," "but what if like you could just eat cookies and nothing else," and a picture of Roland sporting knight's armor.

3 A Developmental Glitch And Defining Feature

Borderlands 2 Tiny Tina Eye Glitch

One defining character trait of Tiny Tina is her lazy left eye which occasionally drifts to the side. While this stands as an official condition she possesses in the game, known as Intermittent Exotropia, this actually originated as a glitch in the development process.

But Gearbox decided to run with it, and the rest is history. It makes sense, as it's sort of become a defining feature of Tina's, which conveys her unstable condition in a more visual way.

2 Helped Wipe Out Hyperion

Along with the Berzerker brute known as Brick, Tiny Tina managed to unleash her fury and get full-blown revenge on Hyperion. In the end credits of BL2, she can be seen on the shoulders of Brick as they worked together in wiping out the remaining Hyperion forces, following the defeat of Jack.

It turns out that Tina and Brick also have a history, as she's mentioned by him during a mission in Sawtooth Cauldron being carried on his shoulders as they fought together in previous skirmishes.

1 Will Star In A Borderlands Movie (In Some Form)

While little has been revealed yet, there will in fact be a Borderlands movie produced by Lionsgate and written by Oren Uziel; writer of 22 Jump Street, and the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog film. That's right - we'll soon be able to follow the shenanigans of Pandora's Vault Hunters in movie form; specifically Lilith, who will be the movie's protagonist.

Tiny Tina fans will be happy to learn that our favorite demolition expert will play a role in the film, at least in some form. In the movie, Lilith is tasked by the Atlas Corporation to rescue their CEO's daughter, Tina, who's joined by her companion Claptrap, and her bodyguard Krieg. Let's hope the film does her justice, and at least stays somewhat true to her zany, destructive character. Regardless, at least she'll also be back in action in Borderlands 3!
