Borderlands 3 is full of guns that make references to various pop culture icons. Here’s where you can find all the ones we know about.

Back in Borderlands 1, Gearbox started a running gag that would extend throughout the franchise. Any legendary or unique weapon found in a Borderlands game has a story, and most of those stories are stolen straight out of the real world. Borderlands 3 is no different--in fact, it seems to have dialed up the references to the point where that’s basically every gun you find.

There’s also a lot of guns in this game. We’re about two weeks from the game’s release so we’re still finding new guns and gear to giggle about. Here’s a list of all the funny funs we’ve found so far, courtesy of GameRant.

Jericho (Iron Man)

This one is a bit deep, so let's start from the beginning. In the 2008 Iron Man movie, Tony Stark is in war-torn Afghanistan to demonstrate a brand new missile called the "Jericho." Then he gets ambushed by terrorists, escapes by making a tiny fusion reactor and embedding it in his chest as a nuclear-powered pacemaker, and then makes an exoskeletal rocket man suit out of random junk just lying around.

Okay, that's paraphrasing a bit, but that's the gist of it. The red text is a reference to Stark's famous (almost) last words, "I prefer weapons you only have to fire once."

So far, the Jericho is a random drop from any suitable loot source, so good luck finding it.

Superball (Mario)

Comprpessing Superball

Wanna feel like you're an Italian plumber even though you're playing a Borderlands game? Look no further than the Superball, a goofy little Maliwan gun that gives you the power of flower.

The gun is exactly like grabbing a fire flower from Mario, complete with bouncing balls of flame and that stupid sound effect. It's not exactly the most powerful, accurate, or effective weapon in the game, but it's goofy fun, right?

Once again, the Superball is a world drop, so it could pop up anywhere.

Mr Caffeine Shield (Futurama)

Mr-caffeine-shield

In one episode of Futurama, Fry gets addicted to coffee. Then he says, "I don't want my coffee shaking," in reference to his caffeine-induced quaking.

However, according to GameRant, it could also be a reference to Ubisoft's 2011 E3 conference which was hosted by a dude called "Mr. Caffeine." He was awful. That's pretty much all there is to say about that.

You get the Mr Caffeine Shield from the mission "Rise and Grind" located in Meridian Metroplex on Promethea.

Night Flyer (Batman)

Surgical Night Flyer

In Borderlands 2, you get the legendary Tediore pistol Gunerang from Rakkman, which was an obvious Batman reference. In Borderlands 3, you get a slightly less obvious Batman reference courtesy of the Night Flyer.

The name is an obtuse reference to Batman, but the red text is what gives it away. "I have one rule" is no killing, a reference to Batman's one rule.

The Night Flyer can be found on Promethea in a cave just outside of Carnivora. If you see a Rakkman symbol in the sky, it means Rakkman has returned and can be murdered for his gun. It's not a guaranteed drop, so might have to murder him a few times.

Two Time Sniper Rifle (Dr Disrespect)

Two Time

You know you've made it when Gearbox turns your nickname into a gun. The "Two Time" sniper rifle is a fine weapon, although sniper rifles themselves are said to be somewhat maligned in Borderlands 3.

You can grab the Two Time from Edgren after completing the "ECHOnet Neutrality" quest on Pandora. You'll find him in Devil's Razor, and as expected, he looks a lot like a certain doctor.

Firesale Long Musket (Elon Musk)

Firesale Long Musket

Once upon a time, an eccentric billionaire tried to prove a point by selling flamethrowers on the open market. What that point was exactly has been lost to the mists of time, but now there are a bunch of flamethrowers out there, so that's cool.

That billionaire was Elon Musk. The flamethrower was called The Boring Flamethrower since it was made by The Boring Company, a corporation ostensibly tasked with creating an underground rail system. But also, apparently, flamethrowers.

The Firesale Long Musket is a flamethrower from Tediore with Elon Musk's name cleverly hidden in the title. It's a world drop, so it's best dropped from your favorite farming spot.

Burning Chomper (Lord of the Rings / Lion King)

Burning Chomper

The Lord of the Rings spans 6 novels, 6 movies, and somewhere around 6,000 hours of your life if you consume all 12 of them. It's not recommended, but many schools force you to at least read the books and many parents force their kids to sit through 24 hours of the longest series of films ever created.

In their honor, Gearbox created the Burning Chomper, which you can get during "The Demon in the Dark" quest on Pandora. Head to Konrad's Hold, kill a Balrog-lookin' demon, and hey-presto, you got yourself a shotgun.

While the mission is a LotR reference, the red text of the gun appears to be a Lion King reference. We’ll let you guess as to what.

One Pump Chump (One Punch Man)

It's pretty safe to say we're all at least a little surprised by One Punch Man's popularity. He's a do-nothing superhero more boring than Superman and is only interesting because of all the mayhem that surrounds him.

Which is perfect for a Borderlands reference, actually.

You get the One Pump Chump in Lectra City One as a rare drop from One Punch, a named Psycho badass that can down players in a single hit. It's not a guaranteed drop, so some farming may be required.

Phebert (Rick & Morty)

How long has it been since a Rick & Morty season? Two years? Three? It's been so long, it's getting hard to remember.

Anyway, you get the Phebert Hyperion shotgun from Wick of the midget duo Wick and Warty. They also spawn in Lectra City on Promethea and once again, it's a random drop so some farming may be required.
