Borderlands 3’s first gameplay video will drop on May 1st.

Borderlands fans, start your hype engines! We now know the game will release on September 13th of this year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC provided you download the Epic Games Store launcher, otherwise, you gotta wait 6 months (sorry, Nintendo, no Borderlands for the Switch yet).

We also know when we’re going to see this bad mother in action, as Mr. Torgue would say. On May 1st, we will get our first look at Borderlands 3’s gameplay.

As revealed in a tweet from the official Borderlands Twitter account, the gameplay video will give us our “first hands-on looks!" With a release date of September 13th, they’ve probably got most of the heavy lifting done and we expect to see an early beta build of the game. We’ll get to see Borderlands’ signature cel-shaded environments and characters as they roam about, and maybe even get to see a character talk.

We’re really hoping that the player characters talk as much as they did in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.

Speaking of characters, the trailer gives us our best look yet at the three new Vault Hunters. First is Moze, the gunner glass. She seems like a mashup of the old soldier and mechromancer classes as she can digistruct a giant mech to really lay down the hurt. A friend can also pop into the turret on the mech’s head to throw down some additional punishment.

Next is Amara, the new Siren. She seems to be melee focused as she can summon ethereal fists to slam enemies into pulp.

Third is FL4K, the unlikely beastmaster. With three pets to choose from--Spiderant, Skag, and some weird cat-like thing holding a gun--FL4K seems to be a big departure from the previous robot classes in Borderlands.

And finally, Zane the operative. Much like Zero, Zane is most likely the sniper of the group, but his ability allows him to get out of trouble thanks to a holographic decoy. It’s kinda like Handsome Jack’s ability in The Pre-Sequel, but slightly less violent.

We’ll learn more about each character on May 1st. In the meantime, pre-orders are available now with a special offer of a golden gun skin.
