After one year with the Boston Uprising, Tae-hee "Jerry" Min and the Uprising have decided to part ways during the Overwatch League free agency and heading into the 2021 season. Jerry announced he was looking for a team and it should be interesting to see where this fan favorite player will be come next season.
Jerry made waves right out of the gate for the Boston Uprising in the 2020 season. His cartoon-inspired name and jovial demeanor made him an instant fan favorite following their match against the Houston Outlaws at the Washington Justice homestand in week three. After winning their match 3-2 fans erupted into "Jerry, Jerry" chants which signaled an exciting arrival into the Overwatch League.
Famously dubbed Scary Jerry, he had a decent first season at the hitscan role with brilliant moments along the way. It could be interesting to see how he fares on a better team overall and if that change allows him to catapult to the ranks of the some of the best DPS players in the league. If he gets another shot with a more talented roster, the potential is definitely there.
The Boston Uprising have had two terrible season in 2019 and 2020 where they lingered at the bottom of the pack most of the time. They've kept a few players from their last season roster but with only four named to 2021, they will need to add much more talent if they truly want to compete in the upcoming season. Parting ways with Jerry opens up the Uprising to find a new hitscan, but losing a fan favorite and solid player doesn't necessarily bode well for Boston come next season.
