The concept of multiple endings in video games is one that has been around for quite some time. The earliest games to have them would make the conditions as straightforward as getting 100 percent completion for the real ending. Nowadays, while multiple endings aren’t available in all games, earning each one has become a challenge in itself.

This is usually to encourage replays and Bravely Default 2 has its own set of endings to find. However, the True Ending is what you’ll want to aim for to get the most satisfying conclusion to the game, while also seeing what the other endings have to offer.

The Types of Endings

Bravely Default 2 Characters And The Various Job Types

When it comes game endings, they usually fall into one of several categories with the main ones being Bad, Good, and True. Bravely Default 2 has one of each of these endings and they’re all earned in different ways.

Unlike other games where the ending is based on your performance, this title has you playing through each of the endings in order to get to the next one. In addition to difficult battles, you’ll have to find all the necessary items to trigger the right events.

Getting The True Ending

In order to get the True Ending to Bravely Default 2, you’ll have to play through the whole game, which is no small task. Once you reach the end, take these steps towards the truth.

  • By default, you’ll receive the Bad Ending. This cannot be avoided and is a prerequisite to reach the other endings. Simply play through the game as normal and defeat the final boss.
  • To improve your chances at getting the True Ending, you’ll need to collect many different jobs in the game including several secret jobs. These are the Salve-Maker (a support class received from the mayor’s dream in Endermo town), the Gambler (a wildcard class focused on damage output received after defeating Sharley), and the Bravebearer (a well-balanced class received from Sir Sloan after defeating him). Once you have them, you’ll be ready to reach the end again.
  • When you’re in the final chamber of the game, you need to jump into the abyss. Once you land, you’ll be faced with the true final boss. Make sure you prep as much as you can as this battle will be long and difficult. You should balance your party between strong physical classes and powerful magic users. This boss has two forms and multiple attacks that can hit all of your characters for lots of damage.
  • You’ll need to defeat the boss’s two forms to achieve the True Ending. What makes the encounter challenging is that the boss and its appendages are immune to many of the elements. As such, you’ll have to rely on high non-elemental damage output which is where secret jobs like the Bravebearer and Gambler come in handy. The boss can also hit your party with lots of debuffs and reduce BP so prepare to counter those effects.
  • Once you defeat the boss’s second form, you’ll be treated to the True Ending.
