Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been on the market for years, but players are still finding and sharing some cool tidbits about the sprawling world of Hyrule. For example, those fearsome Lynels populating remote corners of the world are actually pretty friendly – just don't provoke them with a weapon or intrude on their personal space.

The finding was recently posted to Reddit, and while this probably isn't the first time folks have discovered pacifist Lynels, it's one of the most well-documented encounters. The video shows our fearsome player waltzing right past a Lynel, keeping a respectful distance and staying their blade and bow. Things take a twist when the video decides to show off all the reasons a Lynel will get angry, including:

  • Encroach on their personal space.
  • Draw your sword.
  • Aim at them with a bow.

It's also pointed out that not all Lynels are this friendly – many of them around Hyrule Castle will attack you on sight. In short, stay away from these fearsome beasts unless you're ready for a pulse-quickening fight.

If you're one of the millions of players still roaming around Hyrule in Breath of the Wild, this year was a big one for you, as Nintendo finally pulled back the curtain on its sequel. The first bit of gameplay footage didn't reveal much, but it did show off another massive open world that looks very similar to its predecessor. We also saw an environment floating in the sky, although it's unclear how players will gain access to the vertical location.

For now, you can try to perfect the art of taking down Lynels – one player managed to do so in less than six seconds by using a variety of exploits. Or, if you'd rather have a pacifist playthrough, you can just respect their personal space.
