Update:

He beat the record again the following night, making it 0:25:23. Goddamn.

Original story:

Despite being so open that you can take on the final boss whenever you fancy it, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a long, long game. Well, if you're not speedrunning it at least.

Speedrunner Player 5 has just achieved the Any Percent world record in Breath of the Wild, completing the monstrously large Switch game in just 25 minutes and 30 seconds. This is a fraction of how long an ordinary playthrough would take, which will set you back anywhere in between 50 to 100 hours.

As seen in the stream archive, Player 5 smashes through the game using exploits, glitches, and pure skill. This time of a little over 25 minutes beats the previous record by just 3 seconds, which Player 5 also held.

The Any Percent category involves simply getting to the end of the game as fast as possible, by any means necessary. This means glitches can be used, and none of the side content has to be completed. Almost always being the shortest category, it also tends to attract the most competition, so runs get optimized quickly and every second counts.

As you may expect, the world record for the 100 Percent category is a tad on the long side...sitting at 17 hours and 35 minutes. This involves not only beating the final boss, but also collecting all container upgrades, completing everything in the adventure log, obtaining all the key items, and much, much more. Oh, and if that wasn't daunting enough for you, there's also a 100 Percent Damageless category, which, as the name suggests, does indeed mean doing all of the above without taking any damage whatsoever.

For something a bit calmer, there's a Dog-Percent category, where Link simply makes his way throughout Hyrule, feeding every pup he comes across. The record for that currently sits at 1 hour and 14 minutes.
