The launch of Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is less than a week away, and Bungie has announced that both Destiny 1 and 2 will be taken offline for 24 hours before the launch to prepare for the new content. This means that players who wish to have a strong start in the new expansion should keep a few things in mind to plan ahead.

First, players should know that after the launch of the game, the changes to the Eververse will be live. This means that breaking down items that are not collectible, such as the multitude of Eververse Shaders that players may have in their vaults, can be converted to Bright Dust. In its current form, players use Bright Dust to purchase items from the Eververse store, and it can be earned through certain bounties and, as mentioned, breaking down certain items.

With the launch of Shadowkeep comes the implementation of Armor 2.0, which will convert all Eververse armor into a new system known as universal ornaments. Since Eververse items will not dismantle into Bright Dust after the expansion releases, players only have until the maintenance shutdown begins on October 30 to dismantle these items, most of which are shaders, sparrows, ghosts, and ships. Players can tell if an item is categorized as Eververse by looking in Collections and seeing if it requires Bright Dust to purchase.

Another tip is to stack all bounties to pass in once the expansion launches to maintain access to artifacts.

During the 24 hour period of maintenance, console users will be able to pre-load the content for Shadowkeep.

For those wondering what to possibly do during this 24 hours in which the game will be literally unplayable, they can catch up on the story files in the Ishtar Collective. Shadowkeep will continue from the storyline of the first Destiny. The Ishtar Collective is a fantastic resource of information that has all the game lore from both games and beginning with “The Books of Sorrow” is a good idea, since the Hive Gods are more than likely going to be main antagonists in this expansion.
