The Spicy Ramen Coupon was one of the biggest mysteries I came across in my little time with Destiny 2. I hoped that it would get my Guardian a nice hot bowl, but just like its previous owner Cayde-6, it was expired. The coupon eventually became so popular that dataminers have revealed that a new emblem will be launched based on the Spicy Ramen Coupon, with some even going as far as selling codes to it.

As you can imagine, the Spicy Ramen Coupon Emblem is a special emblem adorned with the coupon all over. Destiny 2 players were unsure how they could get their hands on it. However, it turns out that the emblem was supposed to be a free giveaway to all Guardians on Bungie Day, July 7. Bungie Senior Community Manager, Dylan Gafner took to Twitter to warn players not to buy these coupons.

He explained that the Spicy Ramen Coupon Emblem was a gift from the developer to the players as part of the Bungie Day celebrations. He also had a message for the dataminers who uncovered the news and were selling codes to it for a profit. “Dataminers - please stop spoiling content, whether it be story or emblem codes,” tweeted Gafner. “I know it can be exciting to be the first person with cool info, but please respect the fun.”

While datamining to uncover new information is one thing, selling an item which would have been a free giveaway is a bit too much. Gafner’s tweet is clearly aimed at reducing the number of people who would have shelled out money for no reason. However, not everyone seemed to agree with his stance on dataminers.

Some of the replies to his tweets said that Bungie needed to be a bit more careful with their data and what’s put out on the public API for third parties. However, most people seemed to be on the same page about selling a product that was meant to be free.

While you’ll be able to get the Spicy Ramen Coupon Emblem on July 7, you can start making breakfast preparations with the official Destiny toaster. The real life appliance was added to the store as a thank you to the player base that helped raise more than $777,777.77 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital during GCX 2020.
