Earlier this month, we reported that some Destiny 2 players have been losing entire characters for an unknown reason. Bungie took notice of this nasty bug and got all hands at the studio working on finding the issue and fixing it. While this wasn't a widespread issue, a handful of players reported having their characters deleted. However, after checking all the nuts and bolts, Bungie has now claimed that the issue is not from the side of the developer."Maintaining your characters and progress is our top priority," Tweeted Bungie. "After kicking off a deep dive investigation of a very low number of reports of missing characters out of an abundance of caution, we are confident that no characters or progress were incorrectly lost by our systems."RELATED: Destiny 2 Is Finally Lowering The Barrier To EntryThis makes the mystery of the disappearing characters even more interesting. Perhaps they deleted their own characters by mistake, maybe their account got hacked, or maybe some people are just straight up lying about these deleted characters. There's no way to know for sure as of now, but as per the developer, it is not a bug or glitch of any kind.

As per the original complaint by the player, they "didn't do anything out of the normal, I just logged in and selected my titan, and then I got a black screen with the little text at the bottom of the screen saying contacting servers. Once it was done, it returned me to the character select screen but my titan was missing and I'm assuming everything I had on the titan which was most of my crafted and god roll weapons. Doubt there's anything that can be done about this but if there is, I'd like to hear it, other than grinding everything back."

However, they later updated the post saying that their character had returned with all its weapons and armour. They went on to thank the team at Bungie for helping them get their character back. However, neither party has revealed what exactly led to the character getting entirely deleted, or how they managed to get everything back for the player.
