The Destiny Content Vault has generally been the fate for Destiny 2’s older, less-used content. These former zones will either be lost to the sands of time or eventually come back in a revamped form, which is the hope for areas like Mars, Titan, and Jupiter.

But the Destiny Content Vault doesn’t mean that every location in Destiny 2 is a well-traveled path. There are some spots that remain in the game even though players rarely go there, and there are some places that have just been locked away, supposedly forgotten even by the developers.

Quarantine Sector 236 is one such location. A zone that was only ever interacted with in the old pre-expansion days of Destiny 2, Sector 236 is an eerie place of deadwood and floating boulders thanks to an ancient clash between paracausal entities.

You normally could only enter Quarantine Sector 236 during an old story mission, but YouTuber JB3 somehow managed to sneak their way inside with a few friends to see what's going on in this old haunt, and they discovered that Bungie might be testing something new in this zone.

The one-minute video shows a few Titan statues that don't appear to do much (one is even half-buried in the ground). The real prize is the terrain itself, which JB3 shows to be destructible with a shoulder charge through a few dead trees.

As noted by Forbes, the Titan statues are probably nothing--just something Bungie uses to maintain a sense of scale during the design process. But the destructible environments are an entirely new feature never before seen in Destiny.

As JB3 says in the video, Bungie might be "planning something for this area," perhaps using it as a set piece in an upcoming season. Or maybe Bungie is just using this normally unreachable zone as a test area for future features.

It'll probably be a while before we find out for sure as The Witch Queen isn't due out until 2022. In the meantime, the latest armor teaser shows what might be Old Chicago in the background.
