Cal Kestis appears to have a blaster at his side in the new Star Wars Jedi: Survivor teaser.

After months of being the gaming industry's worst-kept secret, EA and Respawn finally unveiled the long-awaited sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order - Jedi: Survivor. The short teaser didn't reveal too much beyond the fact that it takes place five years after the first game, but it does contain some hints as to what we can expect to see.

One small detail that can very easily be missed in the trailer is that Cal Kestis looks like he's following Obi-Wan Kenobi's lead and wielding a blaster as well as a lightsaber. Towards the end of the trailer, Cal can be seen looking at someone in a bacta tank. As the camera zooms out and lets us see more of the room, Cal's full outfit can be seen, and on the left side is a holster that looks to be holding a blaster.

Although we don't get to see the blaster used at any point in the trailer, it does seem to be teasing that Cal will be able to use a mixture of lightsaber and blaster combat, something that we didn't see in the first game at all. Interestingly, Cal's lightsaber also seems to have lost its ability to split in the middle and have two blades, as Cal is only seen using one in the trailer. It's possible that this blaster is a way of making up for Cal losing that ability.

One theory is that Cal is using the blaster to hide from any prospective inquisitors and only using the lightsaber as a last resort when he needs to, which makes sense considering he managed to escape Vader and will likely be hunted by him throughout the game.

As Star Wars fans know, Jedi don't typically use blasters alongside their lightsabers, with the lightsaber being seen as very important to the Jedi. There are only a few examples of those who use both, including Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ezra Bridger, and Kyle Katarn, most of whom weren't raised with knowledge of the Jedi's culture.
