Battle Royale gameplay is coming to the next Call of Duty title, and it may also be coming to the Nintendo Switch.

We know that the next Call of Duty game is going to be the fourth installment of the Black Ops sub-franchise. As if that wasn’t complicated enough, we’re also pretty sure that the next Call of Duty will also get a Battle Royale mode.

To make things even more complicated, that same Battle Royale mode isn’t necessarily going to be in the same game. According to rumors with GameIntel.com, that Battle Royale Mode is actually going to be a separate game developed concurrently with Black Ops 4 and then bundled together when the game officially releases on October 12th.

The Battle Royale COD is said to be under development with Raven Software, assistant developers to nearly all of the Call of Duty games, while Black Ops is being made by Treyarch.

Rumor: Call Of Duty Black Ops 4 Battle Royale Will Get Standalone Switch Release

Now we have another rumor saying that a stand-alone version of COD Battle Royale might be coming to the Nintendo Switch. Not Black Ops 4 though--just the Battle Royale game, whatever that ends up being called.

So far, we know very little of what the COD Battle Royale game will be like. We know it will follow the standard battle royale formula of last-man-standing wins, and that it will likely have all the guns and hardware found in whatever finds its way to Black Ops 4, but that’s it. We don’t even have a name yet.

As for being on the Switch, well, that just makes sense when you want to grow your audience. Nintendo’s Switch is a hot commodity even a year after its release, practically single-handedly saving the company and making Nintendo relevant again after nearly half a decade of falling behind Microsoft and Sony.

We should stress that this is just a rumor from anonymous sources, and there’s no corroborating evidence yet. That said, a battle royale game on the Switch is a slam dunk. The only thing that could kill this idea is if Nintendo has plans for a battle royale Splatoon game. But otherwise, if COD can get in on the Switch before Fortnite and PUBG, it’ll have a whole market all to itself.
