It has been just a couple of weeks since we first got a teaser in Call of Duty: Warzone—in the form of a visual glitch that said, "know your history"—that hinted at an upcoming Black Ops game. We now definitively know that that game will be called Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War. After six days of bunker hunting, developers Treyarch and publisher Activision have dropped a seriously cool teaser video for the game.

Gamers have been "bunker hunting" in Warzone since Friday, when a group of professional gamers and journalists were given crates that said, "Do not open until August 10 at 12 pm ET." After that, we were directed to the site pawntakespawn.com. Each day, a tape would appear on the site, covering 19 minutes of history during the Cold War. For example, one day was 1961-1962. The next day was 1968-1969 and so on.

The new trailer on YouTube gives us one last televised interview from that time. Journalist and KGB defector Yuri Bezmenov sits and tells us what the Soviet Union was doing to bring down the United States and implement its communist government around the world. The video also tells us that an agent—codenamed "Perseus"—has infiltrated U.S. intelligence and is attempting to sabotage the United States.

Bezmenov states that there are four steps to destroying a country like the United States. First, you demoralize the people. Next, you destabilize the country's economy, foreign relations, and defense systems. The next thing, is to create crisis and normalize it. When you do these things, you will end up with a "big brother" government that will promise everything but will never deliver.

The Cold War was an ideological battle that, some would argue, is still raging today. It was not only a battle of ideology but a fight for continued freedom and independence. The Cold War era was a time of espionage, proxy wars, puppet governments, and paranoia. The world was never more than a few hours away from mutually assured nuclear destruction between the United States and Russia. Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War promises to put you in the middle of one the most dangerous parts of human history. The only question is, do you know enough of that history, or are you doomed to repeat it?

Time to study up.
