Ahead of October 25th's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare release, Call of Duty: Mobile was released today on both Android and iOS devices.

Call of Duty: Mobile's release was announced on the official Call of Duty Twitter page as well as the Call of Duty: Mobile Twitter account.

The tweets can be seen below:

The Call of Duty Twitter page bills Call of Duty: Mobile as the "definitive, mobile first-person action experience."

Meanwhile, the Call of Duty: Mobile Twitter page states that players can play on "classic maps with fully customizable loadouts as iconic characters, and experience the next evolution in mobile Battle Royale." It is free to download on mobile devices.

As shown in the trailer and in the earlier announcement trailer, Call of Duty: Mobile is set to include fan-favorite maps like Crash and Nuketown. Furthermore, characters from the Black Ops games and Modern Warfare trilogy are playable throughout the familiar multiplayer modes.

Unfortunately, some players are experiencing various issues right now. Twitter users responding to the posts from both Call of Duty Twitter accounts are reporting instances of halted loading. Twitter user Adham Fouad replied with a screenshot and said his loading screen had been stuck for three minutes.

Although Call of Duty: Mobile is sure to be a moderate success for Activision despite these issues, all eyes are on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare right now. Recent controversy broke out over PS4 exclusivity regarding Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Spec Ops Survival mode. However, Infinity Ward's narrative director responded by saying that the decision is above the company's "pay grade." It called into question where these exclusivity factors could be heading in the future. Furthermore, the decision caused some fans to cancel their pre-orders.

In the meantime, Call of Duty: Mobile should be able to fill the void. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is still going strong. However, Call of Duty: Mobile might be able to show the series' malleability to all platforms. Moreover, Call of Duty: Mobile might give players a taste of what a Nintendo Switch Call of Duty iteration could be like.
