In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 there is a massive selection of weapon types, each containing different classes of guns that offer advantages and drawbacks. The LMGs in the game, short for Large Machine Guns, are heavy guns that hold a sizable amount of ammo and deal the most consistent damage from medium or long range.

Since these massive machine guns require longer distances to be the most effective, using these guns as your primary weapon in game modes such as DMZ will ensure your success. If you are curious about which of these LMGs you should bring with you onto the battlefield, then look no further.

6 RAAL MG

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Raal MG

Unlocked by simply reaching level 25, the RAAL MG is an LMG that offers you a tale of two extremes. While the gun has the highest amount of damage out of every LMG, it sacrifices stats such as rate of fire and range to provide this devastating damage.

Coupled with the exceptionally loud firing noises that play whenever you shoot with this gun, the RAAL can be more of a headache than a viable weapon. Furthermore, since dealing consistent damage from a safe range is such an imperative aspect of game modes like Warzone and DMZ, the RAAL MG truly falls behind all other LMGs on the battlefield.

5 Sakin MG38

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Sakin MG38

Available at level one, the Sakin MG38 is a starter weapon that provides consistent stats across the board but fails to succeed in a singular field. With that being said, this gun does provide a longer range than most of the assault rifles in the game, so this LMG is capable of winning gunfights on larger maps.

Unfortunately, while this gun should never be considered a bad choice, there are simply other large machine guns that outperform the Sakin MG38 in almost every area. Luckily, since this gun is a starter weapon, you can quickly graduate to other large machine guns after you unlock them.

4 556 Icarus

556 Icarus

Providing some of the best recoil control and rate of fire in the large machine gun category, the 556 Icarus is a fantastic option if you enjoy spraying your enemies with a constant stream of bullets. Similar to other large machine guns in the game, this weapon sacrifices overall damage to bolster the shooting speed.

Sadly, while the spray-and-pray play style is incredibly fun, there are other large machine guns in the game that fulfills this role, all while dealing more consistent amounts of damage.

With that being said, if you do wish to unlock this consistent large machine gun, then do not forget that this weapon becomes available after you upgrade the M4 to level 18.

3 HCR 56

The HCR 56 is a unique large machine gun that excels at providing mobility and handling as you quickly shift around cover and buildings across the map. Although this weapon does provide great mobility, the recoil on this LMG makes it almost impossible to consistently rain gunfire on your opponents.

Instead, shooting this large machine gun like a burst rifle will provide you with greater accuracy and more consistent damage.

If you are tired of constantly sitting in cover and spraying your opponents with an entire clip, then upgrading the STB 556 to level 20 will unlock the HCR 56, allowing you to explore these unique gameplay options.

2 RAPP-H

After leveling the Lachmann-556 to level 16, you will have access to the RAPP-H, an LMG that surprisingly deals the least amount of damage when compared to every other LMG in the game. This lack of damage may seem debilitating at first, but the RAPP-H is still a great gun since it makes up for this downside by having an incredibly fast rate of fire.

Furthermore, this weapon also offers quick handling and consistent accuracy from long range, allowing you to duke it out with snipers and battle rifles consistently. Even though the RAPP-H does not offer top-of-the-line damage, the consistency of the other stats truly makes it a competitive option not just among LMGs, but every gun in the game.

1 RPK

RPK

Playing just one game of Warzone while using the RPK will demonstrate to you why everyone simply adores this large machine gun, and why almost every player in the game has this weapon equipped in their loadout.

Unlocked by leveling the Kastov 762 to level 16, this machine gun delivers the best range and recoil control among all the LMGs, allowing you to accurately destroy your enemies from a safe distance.

While the rate of fire of this weapon may be lacking, equipping the RPK with different weapon attachments can greatly mitigate this problem. Furthermore, unlike the other LMGs, the RPK does not sacrifice damage for other stats, meaning this large machine gun can mow down your enemies before they even realize they are getting shot.

Overall, almost every competitive player has this gun equipped when playing game modes like Warzone, since it consistently provides a steady stream of bullets that decimate opponents.
