Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's RPK is a conundrum. It is a Light Machine Gun but can play almost like a super hard-hitting and accurate Assault Rifle with a massive ammo reserve. If you are a Light Machine Gun player but are having trouble finding your favorite weapon in that category, look no further the RPK is here.
When it comes to Light Machine Guns, it can be hard to find one that hits hard and accurately. The RPK is both, and it has the great qualities of being mobile, quick, and powerful. You can have your cake and eat it too with this weapon.
Best RPK Build
Having the right attachments is really what makes this Light Machine Gun stand out above all the rest in the category. With a focus on Accuracy and Handling and only a slight decrease in Recoil Control, this weapon is a menace on the battlefield - a great choice for those who love Assault Rifles but hate their lack of power and amount of ammo.
This RPK build is the best of both the Assault Rifle and Light Machine Gun worlds. Excellent Recoil Control, power, Aim Down Sight Speeds, Sprint Speed, and Sprint-to-Fire Speed make this weapon a beast. Let's take a look at the attachments on how to make this the best it can be.

These attachments will make this Light Machine Gun feel like a quick and powerful Assault Rifle, if you can believe that. It's great at mid-range combat, so whether you are running around the map or holding down an objective or location, this gun will shine. It can even be quite effective at those longer ranges too.
The gun by itself is great, but with the right Loadout and Perks, you can make it even better.
Best Loadout
Making sure you have the best loadout possible to accompany this beast of a weapon is pretty straightforward. You'll want to be able to cause as much destruction as possible while staying hidden from the enemy and also being able to stay in the fight as long as possible. Let's take a look at what the loadout entails to harmonize with this build.

Tactical |
Stim |
With such a deadly weapon in your hands, you may become the primary target for the enemy; when you get those close calls, use a Stim to regenerate some health, so you can keep on fighting. A Flash Grenade can also prove useful - these will allow you to blind your enemies to make them easier to get the killing blow. |
Lethal |
Drill Charge |
Is that pesky enemy team camping and hiding behind cover? Use a Drill Charge to pressure them and get them to pop out of cover and fall right into your line of sight. A Frag Grenade or Semtex can also be useful here, but those won't blow up on the other side of a wall that the enemy may be taking cover behind. |
Perk Packages |
Tracker, Scavenger, Fast Hands, and Ghost |
The Tracker Perk will allow you to see the recent footsteps of enemies giving you the chance to hunt them down and add to your Kill Streaks. Though you have a big magazine with lots of ammo, you will want Scavenger to maintain that ammo to usable levels. Given Light Machine Guns usually take a long time to reload, you will want to have the Fast Hands Perk to make those annoyingly long reload times a bit faster. Lastly, Ghost will allow you to stay hidden from enemy UAVs, Radars, and Heart Beat Sensors, so you aren't hunted down for the destruction machine in your hands. |
Field Upgrades |
Munitions Box and Portable Radar |
In the case, Scavenger isn't enough to keep your ammo reserves high enough, take a Munitions Box with you to stock up on ammo in those trying times you run low. The Portable Radar is an excellent second choice when you are maintaining a position either for an objective or for kills and you are worried the enemy team may be trying to sneak up on you. This will allow you to see their location on your minimap, but keep an ear out; they may have the Ghost Perk as well. |
Having a Light Machine Gun with such great handling and power may put Assault Riles away for a while. With the potential to be great at all ranges, and from camping to run and gun strategies, you may find the RPK to be the last gun you will ever need.
