Infinity Ward's having quite the time catching up with fixes since releasing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and they look to have taken a wee step back in their updating of the game.

The nerfing of the 725 shotgun, albeit necessary, probably hasn't gone down all that well with gamers now that they can't obliterate targets from sniper-rifle distances anymore. And that the "Realism" multiplayer mode was removed definitely wasn't pleasing.

As you can tell by now, it's been tricky terrain for the CoD devs. To make matters more complicated, the game's most recent update has introduced a bug that's having an impact on how the E.O.D perk is used.

That is according to a Reddit post that's garnered loads of upvotes and prompted comments in agreement. The perk appears to be broken, with some players now unable to hack explosives using it. But others have confirmed that it's still functional so it's unclear as to why it's stopped for the rest.

When working, the perk allows players to hack non-killstreak explosives such as C4, Claymores, Proximity Mines and Trophy Systems, taking control of them. They would only need to approach the device from the rear and hold down a specific button to turn it into a friendly explosive. However, that appears to be problematic for certain players since the patch.

It's been reported that a player will approach the explosive from the back as they normally would and hold the button down to initiate the hack. But, instead of going through with the function, it cuts before it gets completed. The bug appears to be treating a button hold the same way it would a shorter button press, essentially killing the E.O.D perk. The visual simply shows players picking up whatever device it is then putting it back down right away.

The original Reddit post shows a short clip of a player unsuccessfully attempting to hack a claymore. The video came from PS4 play but PC users are claiming to have the same issue.

Generally, though, players seem quite satisfied with the newest CoD installment and, apart from the above plus some new camera issues, the update has been well received.

Modern Warfare is currently available for PS4, PC and Xbox One.
