The world premiere for Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War and Warzone season four will take place this Thursday at Summer Game Fest.

Summer Game Fest has revealed another big event that will be happening during its kick-off show this Thursday. The world premiere of Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War and Warzone season four. Even though it seems as if season three has only just begun, Warzone's in-game clock is currently due to expire on June 15, 2021, indicating that season four is now only a week away.

Unlike season three, very little has been revealed about what to expect from season four. Leaked might be a better descriptor here than revealed. Long before Activision decided to let the world know Verdansk would be getting an '80s makeover, the concept surfaced online. A video that was eventually confirmed to be legitimate even showed what areas like the stadium and the dam would look like after the update.

Even season three's reloaded update was teased well ahead of time. Warzone players figured out clues revealing '80s action heroes like Rambo and Die Hard's John McClane would be added to the game. This time around, with only a week to go, pretty much nothing is known about season four, making this Thursday's reveal at Summer Game Fest that much more exciting.

Raven Software has revealed a little bit of information about what the new season will bring to Black Ops Cold War. Nothing major or related to themes, just that adaptations to attachments will make the franchise's long-range weapons more diverse than ever. As for Warzone, whether the map will change again remains unclear. Perhaps Verdansk is about to be taken to another period in time.

Even without this week's Call of Duty announcement, there is a lot to be excited about when it comes to this year's Summer Game Fest. In the first weekend alone Devolver Digital will be revealing four new games, a Koch Primetime stream will be taking place, and Gearbox will be revealing a new adventure. All of this on the same weekend as E3 and in tandem with the releases of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart.
