Season 5 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone has been teased by Infinity Ward, highlighting some impending changes. A recent video - sent to a Twitch streamer by Infinity Ward - appears to reveal the Season 5 release date as August 5.

According to Charlie Intel, Call of Duty Twitch streamer NICKMERCS received the first teaser for Modern Warfare and Warzone season 5. The video (see below) clearly shows the date, ‘5-AUG-2020’ as well as the time along the top of the frame. Charlie Intel has predicted that there is a high chance that Season 5 will begin on August 5, as this is when the Battle Pass is due to end. NICKMERCS was enthusiastic to show the clip on his livestream, which featured a first-person view on-board a departing train. A helicopter can then be seen violently flying in from the left, entering the map.

NICKMERCS said that he was “honored” to receive the teaser from Infinity Ward, despite the streamer labeling it as a “leak." Followers were confident that the teaser indicated a change of map for the fifth season. Other theorists were convinced that there was a bomb on the train, hinted at by the intense rumbling that could be heard during the clip. NICKMERCS was also on-board with the location change, confirming that those were some of the rumors he had previously heard.

VGC has speculated that the featured train will be loot-based, as well as a prediction that the Call of Duty 2020 title will be announced from inside Warzone or Warfare Season 5. As the pandemic has pretty much halted any press events, there is a good chance that Activision will decide to release S5 in-game. Infinity ward also has a habit of introducing new modes and content during the transition from one season to another.

Other changes that have been rumored to hit Season 5 will include the opening of the notorious stadium. Players have managed to successfully access the stadium before, but were met by an empty center which was inaccessible. According to various sources, the middle of the stadium will resemble the inside of a Ukrainian football ground, home to the club Shakhtar Donetsk.
