There is no doubt about the fact that Call of Duty is a vast franchise with the total number of game releases now standing at a whopping fourteen titles including the upcoming Call of Duty: WWII. It has become a global phenomenon over the years, and it is one of the most popular video game titles sold all over the world. In fact, the extent to how this FPS craze has spread everywhere is represented by the fact that Call of Duty championships are held each year with multiple divisions and prize money totaling almost $3 million. Let that sink in for a minute.

This is a clear indication that people enjoy the multiplayer aspect of these games and also the competitive nature that involves leveling up and unlocking new weapons and perks. Additional survival game modes like the Zombies mode has also helped the franchise become more and more popular with the fans. So, whether you’re looking to get that extra edge while playing online or would simply like to mow down hundreds of zombies without much difficulty, we have put together a list of tricks covering the many games that have come out since the launch of the franchise. These will not only be useful for those starting out (yes, such people exist) but will also come in handy for the seasoned veterans of Call of Duty.

25  Accessing The Secret Menu – COD: Black Ops 3

Via gottabemobile.com

Among so many other secrets present in the Call of Duty games, coming across secret menus is always exciting. Luckily, Black Ops 3 has something very similar for its players.

To access this particular secret menu, you will need to get started with the campaign and then make your way to the Safehouse where you will have the option to open the data vault. If you notice your screen at this point, a logo resembling the letter S will be present in the top left corner which can be highlighted with the cursor. Simply press R2 along with Square and Triangle (on PlayStation) or RT plus X and Y (on Xbox) to bring up this menu. Once the menu appears, it basically allows you to enter different cheat codes.

24 Skip Rounds During Shadows Of Evil – COD: Black Ops 3

Via Youtube.com (Sargent doggo)

Shadows of Evil is a playable map in the Zombies mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. It is set in the historic Morg City during the 1940s and while mowing through hordes of zombies can be a lot of fun on this map, you would also be willing to use any additional help with skipping some of the levels.

As the game starts, you will be placed in an alleyway from where you can see a junction along with a walkway on top of which you will see the Shadow Man. Successfully shoot him five times and you will be pushed into round 5 without having to kill a single zombie. You can repeat this trick two more times, advancing you to level 15 and this is where the Shadow Man will finally disappear.

23 Get Access To The Venom-X weapon – COD: Ghosts

Via Youtube.com (LarsonHD)

The Venom-X is a pretty powerful weapon which is capable of shooting a number of powerful projectiles to cause the maximum amount of damage. It was first introduced in the Onslaught DLC to be used in the Extinction mode of the game. However, did you know that you can also access the powerful weapon on the Unearthed multiplayer map if you have the Devastation DLC?

To obtain it, you need to get to the crane on the map which should have three black support boxes on top of it. These can easily be destroyed using different explosives, but we recommend the grenade launcher which gets the job done easily. Once this is done, the cage which the crane was previously holding will drop, allowing you to access the rare Venom-X inside. The really cool part about getting the Venom-X is that it can act as a third weapon meaning you don’t have to drop your primary. It can only be used once and won’t reappear once you’re dead.

22 Share Money With Other Players – COD: Ghosts

Via Youtube.com (Ls)

Money can play a very important role when battling Cryptids in the Extinction mode of Call of Duty: Ghosts. It is used to purchase weapons throughout the different levels, and the concept is essentially the same as Zombies in the previous games. Similarly, traps can also be purchased and setup using cash.

However, it is also pretty easy to run low on money especially if you are at a much lower rank and cannot make money fast enough by killing the Cryptids. The solution to this is very simple if you have a friend on the team with a lot of money. To make this work, your friend will need to have at least $1000 on them. All they need to do is hold the button for aiming down the sight (left trigger on consoles) and then press and hold the jump button for two seconds. Once this is done, a crate with $1000 will drop which can then be easily picked up by you.

21 Unlock Special Zombie Round – COD: Advanced Warfare

Via expertreviews.co.uk

Having a special Zombies mode has always been a thing for the Call of Duty games ever since Call of Duty: World at War came out which first introduced this concept. The entire deal with Advanced Warfare, however, was that it didn’t have an included Zombies mode and it was only accessible after you bought the $49.99 season pass.

Let’s be honest though, not everyone wants to spend that much money on a single game. The good news is that there is a hidden Zombies level but you’ll need to do some serious grinding to get to it. For this you will need to have the Tier-4 maps, specifically, the Riot map unlocked when playing the Exo-Survival Mode. This can be done by completing a set number of rounds of a previous tier, such as 100 rounds of Tier-3 maps to unlock the Tier-4 maps. Once that is done, you simply need to reach round 10 on the Riot map. A DNA bomb will drop in once this happens, successfully turning all your enemies into zombies.

20 Getting A Thundergun – COD: Black Ops

Via Youtube.com (KodZombies)

Similar to the Venom-X, the Thundergun is a pretty powerful weapon that is capable of killing a large number of zombies in just a single hit. While this is pretty useful when clearing large hordes of enemies in the Zombies mode, there is also a way to utilize this weapon during the campaign mission Numbers in Call of Duty: Black Ops.

To obtain it, simply shoot the white canisters until Nova 6 is released once the interrogation scene has ended. Next, run to the small room where the mission is first started and you will notice a cassette player with some tape sticking out of it. Simply hit the action button and you will notice that the tape has disappeared confirming that all the steps have been correct so far. Continue with the mission as you normally would until you come across the first weapon cache Here you should see another cassette player and upon activating this, the Thundergun will show up on top of the player.

19 Exploit Glitches Against Zombies – COD: Black Ops

Via Youtube.com (MrTurnitup)

While exploiting glitches in a multiplayer match is not very advisable, the Zombies mode is a totally different story. You’ll need each and every advantage that you can get no matter how crazy it might be.

What a lot of people might not know is that it is possible to lunge at zombies while you’re present inside a particular radius. To make this work, you need to make sure that tactical button layout is active after which you simply need to walk up to a zombie and put it between your crosshairs until it turns red. All you need to do after this is hit the Y and B buttons (on Xbox) or Triangle and Circle buttons (on PlayStation) and then the knife button to lunge at a zombie and kill it.

18 Getting The M2 Browning – COD: Modern Warfare

Via callofduty.wikia.com and youtube.com (karazhni)

Among many of the modern weapons that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has to offer, an M2 Browning machine gun isn’t one that you expect to use especially during the Charlie Don’t Surf level of the campaign.

There is one that you can use, however, accessing it requires some work. Before you enter the TV station, a demolished building can be seen in the parking lot which contains a mattress. Jump near it and you should be able to reach a low wall which will lead to an out wall. Once there, simply turn right and jump on the low roof placed right next to it. This will lead to a part of the map which couldn’t be accessed earlier. From here, walk up to the hill that is visible near the TV station and keep walking until you come across fence which you should be able to jump through. Here you will see an M2 Browning pretty much floating in the air which you can then use.

17 Complete The Airborne Challenge – COD: Modern Warfare

Via Youtube.com (DjangoUnchained)

The airborne challenge is one of the multiple challenges that you can achieve in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. There is something really satisfying about completing a challenge, and this specific one requires you to get two kills while, you guessed it, being airborne.

This can also be done, however, by the use of a small glitch which lets you easily get this achievement. To make this work you need to start a match on the map Crash and enter the 3-story building. Exit from the second floor and you should be able to see a blue barrel on top of which you can jump and go prone. Hit the jump button twice, and the character should go into a freefall. All you need to do now is kill two enemies in this state, and you will successfully unlock the Airborne achievement.

16 Carry Three Weapons At Once – COD: Modern Warfare

Via gamebanana.com

Wouldn’t it be great if you could carry three weapons at once during the campaign of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare? Especially when the combination involves an RPG.

This can be done during the “Game Over” mission. However, it may require a few tries before you can get it to work since it is a tricky one. Make sure that you’re not holding the RPG-7 when the bridge is destroyed by the Hind and the screen turns to black. You will get a prompt to swap your current weapon for an RPG-7 but every once in a while, it will tell you to simply pick the RPG-7 up. If this happens, you will be able to carry three weapons, i.e. a secondary, a primary, and the RPG-7. This may take a few tries to work probably, but it’s worth it in the end.

15 Get Yourself A Guard Dog – COD: Ghosts

Via steamtradingcards.wikia.com

Among a lot of other things, Call of Duty: Ghosts was the first COD game to introduce the dog Riley as a playable character during the campaign. The obviously meant that something similar had to be incorporated into the multiplayer game play as well to make it more unique and interesting compared to some of the previous games.

Thus, the guard dog kill streak was born. Every COD player is quite familiar with killstreaks that unlock various items for a certain number of kills in a row. In Call of Duty: Ghosts, the Guard Dog is unlocked once they player reaches 5 kills. This is part of the Assault strike package. The really cool thing about this is that your dog will accompany you and you won’t lose it even when you die. Dogs can stand on guard, protecting you from players sneaking up on you and growl when other enemies are around.

14 Use Semi-Autos As Full Auto – COD: Modern Warfare 3

Via Youtube.com (HailTheLag)

The multiplayer in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was quite engaging and competitive at the same time. This means that even the smallest of advantage can be the deciding factor between winning or losing an important match.

Many people are aware of the Akimbo perk which allows players to carry two pistols at the same time. These are semi-auto weapons, but a small trick can allow you to make one of them go fully automatic giving you a brief edge. To make this work, all you need to do is ensure that the weapon in the right hand has only a single bullet left. Simply press the triggers for both weapons and hit the switch weapons button at the same time. This will make the weapon in your left-hand fire-off automatically.

13 Running Around Once Match Ends – COD: Modern Warfare 3

Via callofduty.wikia.com

Don’t you wish that you could run around once a match is over, and the score screen is up? It would certainly make for a fun prank and have all your friends wondering how you were able to do that.

In order to make this little trick work, you need to equip a predator missile and wait for the countdown timer for the match finish to start. When there are around 5 seconds left on the clock, go ahead and fire the predator missile. If everything goes right, the predator missile should detonate only after the match is ended. Once this happens, it will force the player to close the laptop but also allow them to then move around freely and the other players will be able to see them do this.

12 Using Primary Weapon With Last Stand Perk – COD: Modern Warfare 2

Via Youtube.com (KvSKftw)

Pretty much everyone hates the Last Stand perk since it can pretty annoying when you’re trying to take a kill but what is another way of making it even worse? Use it in a way that lets to shoot with your primary weapon instead of the usual secondary weapon.

This can be done by exploiting a small glitch and while it can be difficult to accurately pull this off, it can be done with just a little bit of luck on your side. To make this work, simply equip the Last Stand perk and then every time you’re killed while setting up a killstreak unlock like the sentry gun or during weapons swap, you will equip your primary weapon when downed.

11 Walking Like A Zombie In Multiplayer – COD: Modern Warfare

Via Youtube.com (4-8Productions)

While zombies weren’t officially introduced in the franchise until Call of Duty: World at War which was the fifth game in the series, a glitch existed in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare that essentially allowed players to walk around like zombies.

This can be a fun little trick to play on your friends who will be left wondering as to how you managed to get it working. To make this work, you will need a couple of claymores and the UAV. For those unaware, the UAV can be unlocked after you get a killstreak with three kills. Simply lay down a claymore and activate the UAV. While you’re doing this, lay down another claymore simultaneously and your character should be walking around like a zombie now.

10 Reload While Aiming Down The Sight – COD: Black Ops

Via gamesradar.com

Don’t you just wish that you could reload your weapon while simultaneously aiming down the sight? It would definitely save you some precious few seconds and could come in handy just in case an enemy decides to pop up right in front of you.

While a similar glitch could be exploited on all weapons in Call of Duty: World at War, Black Ops also allows this but on a limited number of weapons. To make this work, all you need to do is hit reload and then sprint for only a second before coming to a stop and hitting the aim down the sight button or left trigger for consoles. This will allow you to aim down the sights reload at the same time. One thing that should be noted is that this won’t work for an empty reload, i.e. reloading when your current clip has run out of ammo.

9 Rapid Fire During Mantle Over An Object– COD: Advanced Warfare

Via tuffgnarl.com

While playing Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, it can be quite common to come across objects that you can mantle over. If you stand next to one of these objects, you’re given a prompt that asks you to press a button to vault over the object, normally "A" on the Xbox.

However, it is also possible to empty your semi-auto or burst-fire weapons during this which can help you get an instant kill as this is capable of dishing out a large amount of damage within a few seconds. Before you mantle over an object, simply press the buttons A, Y, and the right trigger to empty your weapon on an enemy. This trick can be made even more effective if you decide to activate the auto-mantle function in the game.

8 Double Points On The Buried Map In Zombies – COD: Black Ops 2

Via Youtube.com (Codex)

Buried is a great map to play on in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and it can be quite a lot of fun when playing with friends. Points matter a lot here so any opportunity to get more points can greatly help win the game.

Using a simple trick, you can double the amount of points you’re getting. For this to work, you will need to utilize both the Galvaknuckles and the Time Bomb. Simply go ahead and setup the Time Bomb after which you can use the Galvaknuckles to punch in the keys that can be found behind the tellers. Next, you will need to press the action button on your respective console and place points inside the powerup for Bonus Points. Now, activate your time bomb, and you should be brought back to the point where you first setup the Time Bomb, only this time, however, the powerup will still be there which you can pick up.

7 Getting Two Free Perks – COD: Black Ops 2

Via nazizombies.wikia.com

Similar to how you can double your points on Buried, you can get two free perks on the map as well. This also requires the use of a Time Bomb that needs to be placed where the ghosts show up in the Haunted Mansion.

To make this trick work properly, ensure that you enter the Haunted Mansion during the time when the lights are still on. Before you leave the place, make sure that you kill all of the ghosts except for one. Once you’re sure that only one ghost is left, setup your Time Bomb in that location. Now go ahead and kill the ghost but you’re not supposed to grab the powerup that is dropped here. Simply activate your Time Bomb, and you will see that the free perk is still available for pickup. Grab that and kill the last ghost in the mansion again to have it drop another free perk.

6 Making Full Use Of Vulture Aid – COD: Black Ops 2

Via Youtube.com (TmarTn)

The Vulture Aid is quite a useful little perk which does a great job of showing players where all the useful items such as perks and mystery boxes are. However, this is not the only thing that makes this perk great, in fact, it is capable of doing so much more.

One of the biggest advantages that this perk can offer is the green smoke that can obtained by killing a specific type of zombie which will give off green smoke when killed. You will be ignored by other zombies if you manage to stay inside this cloud of smoke which can be pretty useful if you’re trying to accomplish some task like depositing money at the teller in Buried or while simply trying to revive a downed player.
