A prominent Battlefield and Call of Duty leaker has revealed some leaked information about Call of Duty Vanguard, saying that it's like "Black Ops Cold War 2.0", and that it'll release in 2021.

Tom Henderson, the leaker behind most of the Battlefield 2042 discussion and trailer sketches, posted a video on his YouTube channel running through some Vanguard rumours and giving new details. He starts the video by saying, "it might not be the game that a lot of people are looking forward to this year".

Tom opens his video by saying that Warzone will be getting a WW2 map when Vanguard releases as a crossover, which might be a reaction to the worry about Vanguard earlier in the year. Apparently, the map will be larger than Verdansk to make room for more vehicles and travel options, rather than having more players.

When moving on to the multiplayer, Tom says that Sledgehammer has tried to introduce lots of ways to try and differentiate Vanguard from other Call of Duty games, but it hasn't worked out and is now looking like "Black Ops Cold War 2.0", with around eight standard maps around launch.

One thing that Tom says is unique about Vanguard is that it'll bring the Ground War mode from Modern Warfare and allow around 32 players on bigger maps. Headquarters will also reportedly be coming back to the game, which isn't a surprise considering it was also in WW2.

Tom expects Vanguard to be revealed sometime in August and through Warzone, which matches previous leaks. He also says to keep expectations in check as, although every single Activision studio is working on Warzone, it's only Sledgehammer Games who is on Vanguard, and it sounds like the development has been pretty rough overall.

Vanguard will also reportedly have a story mode and a cooperative mode, which Tom believes to be zombies, and that Treyarch has been assisting with development for the mode. It's not expected to be as involved as previous zombies modes.
