Warzone 2's decision to introduce proximity chat has its pros and cons. On one hand, there are plenty of toxic players out there who will use the feature to be complete assholes. But on the other hand, it gives you a chance to talk to and have a fun time with people you don't know and create great stories, like Warzone 2's popular Uber driver, who even won a game without getting a single kill.
Unfortunately, you never know whether you'll encounter someone nice or someone toxic. Speaking of the latter, streamer Dr Disrespect was served a seven-day ban for being toxic on proximity chat. If you know Dr Disrespect, you know he's going to be disrespectful via the proximity chat feature.
As spotted by Dexerto, during one of his streams, he mentioned that he was actually using an alternate account, as his primary one got suspended for seven days. “I should probably chill on this account champs,” he said. “I mean with the proximity chat. This is not even my account. They banned my other one for seven days for proximity chat use. Believe it or not champs. So we’re playing on an alternate… Spam? Yeah it was probably for spam. But was it really?”
Of course, he didn't think he did anything wrong, and claims that he was only banned as a way to make an example out of him. He also mentioned that he's seen way worse happen during Warzone 2 games and in his particular case, both parties were trash talking. “These people are just so out of touch,” he said. “You’re gonna ban me right before a $100,000 tournament? It’s insane how out of touch these people are.” Of course, There's no way he knows whether the other person got a ban or not, so his logic is pretty flawed.
This isn't the first time Disrespect has had it out for Call of Duty. In fact, he was one of the first ones to speak out about just how boring Warzone 2's DMZ mode has been. CoD's battle royale title has been going through some growing pain, as a handful of issues, including bugs and performance, have been making it hard to play. On top of that, The new DMZ mode isn't quite as fun as the devs hoped.
"That new gimmicky DMZ mode is already dead. Nobody wants to play that 6th grade design," Tweeted. However, fellow streamer Lupo was not of the same opinion and challenged his viewpoint. "Cmon Lupo," replied Dr Disrespect. "if MW2019, Warzone Caldera, no (Capture the Flag) in mp, 8 maps, no footstep audio, no ranked playlist, sbmm, killing 40 ai’s, 100 million dollar marketing budget is any indication along with what I’ve seen….. it has no chance after week 1."
Of course, Dr Disrespect doesn't have much to gain by dissing Call of Duty for no reason – or does he? He is currently making an NFT-based shooter named Deadrop, which, like DMZ, is also an extraction based game. In fact, Activision was accused of plagiarizing a skin from this game for Vanguard.
