Infinity Ward revealed that Call of Duty: Warzone has leapfrogged onto another milestone now with over 50 million players diving into the battle royal game. The standalone mode is clearly off to a great start following its launch just over a month ago on March 10. For comparison, this success is relatively similar to what Apex Legends accomplished, also gaining the same number of players in its first month of release.

Of course, a pessimist might also look at the number of players and wonder how many of those are hackers. Since Warzone is a free to play mode that does not require any real money spending to get into, it is literally a matter of creating a new account if banned for cheating.

Infinity War recently announced that it was constantly working to identify and ban cheaters, having permanently banned over 50,000 accounts worldwide. In the context of the 50 million downloads, that accounts for one percent of all accounts. It would be great if Infinity Ward were to reveal how many of those 50 million downloads were paid users and how many were free to play.

We hope Warzone continues to see success in the months to come, and it clearly shows no signs of slowing anytime soon.
